1 SAMPLE DESCRIPTION
HENG - Earth Electrode Seal (4-Rod Seal) - DE784, Water pressure seal used
in conjunction with an earth rod electrode. Comes with polymer chamber.
Diameter: 350 mm
Single (Earth Electrode Seal (2-Rod Seal) – DE782) and double Earth Electrode
Seal (4-Rod Seal) - DE784) earth rod seals were identical, with the only difference
being the number of flanges included per kit.
Samples received: 23th September 2019.

The manufacturer has provided all adequate information for proper installation
in a suitable and safe manner.
Three new specimens of Double (4-Rod Seal) - DE784 kit, with protocol numbers
260a, 260b and 260c were tested.

3 TEST PROCEDURE
The earth rod seal was assembled in accordance with manufacturer’s
instructions. The earth rods used along with the seals were copper bonded earth rods.
All tests were carried out at PITTAS–DRAGNIS testing facilities at Koropi-Attica.
All tests were carried out on new specimens. The specimens have been
subjected to the following tests:
3.1 EARTH ROD SEAL TEST

The three specimens 260a, 260b and 260c, were assembled in the test
arrangement shown below. Standard IEC 62561-5:2017 specifies in paragraph 6.3.1,
a minimum air pressure of 0.5 MPa (5 bar), was applied for 24 hours continuously, into
the seal arrangement.
3.2 INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Content of installation instructions was checked for its completeness, by
inspection.

3.3 MARKING TEST
The specimens were inspected to check if they are marked at least with
manufacturer’s name or trademark or identifying symbol and part number.
3.4 ELECTROMAGNETIC COMPATIBILITY (EMC)

Products covered by standard BS EN 62561-5 are, in normal use, passive in
respect of electromagnetic influences (emission and immunity)

5 CONCLUSIONS
The tests were successful and the results are in the range of limits set by
IEC 62561-5:2017 standard.
