Theater. Specifically, it seeks to achieve the learning competencies: explain
how an idea or theme is communicated in selected performance through the
integration of music sounds, songs, dialogue and dance(A10EL-Ivb-2) and
Analyze example of plays based on theatrical forms and elements are used to

PHILIPPINE THEATER

• The Philippines has rich and flourishing theatre industry that you
may be interested to venture into in the future.
• Production range from original plays with Philippine themes and
settings to renowned theatre classics from past centuries to
contemporary musicals from Broadway or London’s West End.
• It was inevitable that many US and Europeans theater forms scripts
found their way here in the Philippines
• Theater is where a story acted out on stage by actors portraying the
characters bringing them to life and developing the plot through
DIALOGUE,ACTIONS,MUSIC,SONG and DANCE.
• The Philippine Educational Theater Association (PETA) founded in
1967 and Tanghalang Pilipino, the resident theatre company of the
Cultural Center of the Philippines in 1987.
• Multi awarded theatre actress and singer Lea Salonga began her
career as child lead in production of Repertory Philippines, From there
she went on to become an international stage superstar in the lead
role Kim in Miss Saigon-putting the Philippines on the world map in
terms of Theater talent.
• The elements of Art applied to an original performance are the
following
1.Sound and Music-incorporating sound recording and editing
techniques available using applications for laptop and android
phones.
2.Gesture,Movement and Dance-incorporating dance styles
3.Costume,Mask,Make up and Accessories-incorporating art
techniques such as painting, simple sculpture and industrial designs.
4.Spectacle-creating a striking even awe inspiring effect on stage
through the use of lighting, costumes, sound, music, and special
effects.
