1. Pursuant to Republic Act No. 7079 otherwise known as Campus Journalism

Act of 1991, this Office announces the conduct of the 2024 District Schools
Press Conference on February 27, 2024, for the Individual and Group
Categories (Secondary) at Botolan National High School. The conference
with the theme: "From Campus Journalism to Real-World Journalism:
Shaping Minds from Schools to Societies " aims to:
1.1 exercise Republic Act No. 7079 otherwise known as the Campus
Journalism Act of 1991;
1.2 demonstrate understanding of the importance of Journalism by
expressing it through different journalistic endeavors and approaches;
1.3 sustain advocacy on social consciousness and environmental
awareness;
1.4 provide a venue for an enriching learning experience for students
interested in Journalism as a career or those who intend to use skill
sets learned through campus journalism to give them a better edge in
their chosen careers; promote responsible journalism and fair and
ethical use of social media; and
1.5 enhance journalistic competence through healthy and friendly
competitions.
2. The conference activities shall include the following:

2.4 Search for Most Outstanding School Paper Adviser and Campus
Journalist
3. Recognizing and respecting Intellectual Property Rights, this Office adheres to

the rule concerning plagiarism. This Office reiterates its stand to disqualify
school papers found to have copied and published texts, graphics, and other
materials without duly acknowledging their sources. Any form of plagiarism
in all competitions as proven by the board of judges shall be ground for
disqualification.
4. All the proctors are requested to report to the venue an hour before the
conduct of the activity for the orientation.
5. The official list of contestants shall be submitted to Botolan National

High School on or before February 23, 2024. Also, School Journalism
Coordinators (Secondary) are requested to submit the following:
a. Storage cards of photojournalists on February 26, 2024 (AM only).
b. Laptop for the group contest for checking and inspection on February 27,
2024 at 8:00 AM only.
6. All pertinent papers of candidates for the Schools District Search for
Outstanding School Paper Adviser and Outstanding Campus Journalist
should be submitted to Botolan South Central School Office for Evaluation on
or February 27, 2023.
7. Classes of the participating teachers will not be canceled or suspended. The

School Heads of the teacher-participants in this training shall make the
necessary arrangements to ensure the sustained orderly teaching and
learning process and that classes will not be disrupted as stated in DO No. 9,
s. 2005 (Instituting Measures to Increase Engaged Time-on-Task and Ensuring
Compliance Therewith).
8. For clarifications of press conferences, school papers, and individual, and

group contests please follow guidelines as stipulated in DepEd Memorandum
No. 71, s. 2024.
9. No registration fee shall be collected during the conduct of this activity.

10.Meals and snacks, travel, and other incidental expenses of the participants
shall be charged against School MOOE, Campus Journalism Fund and/or
other local funds subject to the usual accounting and auditing rules and
regulations.
11.This Memorandum shall serve as Authority to Travel.

12.Attached in this memorandum are the following for reference:

c. Enclosure No. 3- Official List of Proctors
13.Immediate dissemination of and strict compliance with this Memorandum is
