The joys of teaching

We all know the meaning of the word “joy”. And teaching can be associated as the joy of
teaching. Because the teachers feel the joy by giving it, like we see how the students approach
or apply of all knowledge that we taught or discussed to them and they return it by pleasing
their teachers including a surprising party during teacher’s day or teacher’s birthday. And the
joy is one of the ingredients of the art of teaching, because the job of the teacher is not easy
just like teaching in elementary, so we need to enjoy while teaching the to prevent being
impatient and irritated because of some students are undisciplined or stubborn. Then, here are
examples of the joys of teaching: joy and satisfaction are equated with pleasure, both quality
and feeling or feeling of gratification, accompanied by humor and wit, and others. But all
examples of the joys of teachings is all about how teachers can enjoy their professional job.

Choosing to Teach
Teacher is an inspiration to us, because teacher serves as an encouragement to us all to
develop and to view what would we become in the future. You'll be making difference, teachers
must willing and able to create conducive social environment for learning. That's why teaching
is often described as calling for reason. You'll have a job for life, because teaching is an infinite
profession. It is a job that remains for one's career until he's/her retirement. Freedom for
creativity, in teaching we are free to become artistic, with using of our imagination just to be
creative in teaching. This will be also lead us to become effective teacher. Learn as well as
teach- in teaching we are not just focusing on teaching, but we can also learn through
teaching, we could also learn different things from our students based on their experiences.
There are intangible rewards, in teaching we also gain respect, honor and recognition and if
you see those children who is eager to learn to become successful. As well as we see them
that they are learnt from us.

The Whences of Teaching: The What and the How?

From this lesson, the whences of teaching (the what and how) it is about the struggles we
might and will face at the field of teaching. From, our need of understanding and added
pressure to guide the development of our students when the parents are lacking of parental
support, how can I discipline my students but still build relationship with my students, how will I
reach out to parents, students, co- teachers as well as the principal if there are concerns or
overall avoid misunderstanding, the problem with creating and implementing the appropriate
learning approach to the students. In addition, the fast changing educational trends and
technology a teacher should learn in order to go along with the digital native students as well
as to properly inject the goals and mission of our current curriculum which is to build efficient
21st Century Learners. This is why the parable of the Coffee bean is a great way to introduce
the appropriate reaction to the problems we will face when we become professional teachers,
that similar to the coffee beans we should be the one who will change the environment. We
should be like the coffee beans, that instead of getting affected by our environment, we should
use our negative experience to turn into something good because we have the skills,
knowledge and abilities that can make our environment much suitable for everyone who goes
into it

The Hows of Teaching

The hows of teaching involves traits of a good teacher has and also some of the
interpersonal skills needed to become a good teacher. There are four good traits of a
teacher has the patience, empathy, drive for self- improvement, and adaptable.
Patience, is the key for helping students overcome their struggles. Empathy, it's
important to be sensitive and thoughtful to make sure the learners feel they're in a safe
environment. Drive for self- improvement, wherein teaching involves lifelong learning.
The examples of this is taking master’s degree where it ca help you to learn more in the
field of education and to improve your skills in teaching. Another is attending education
conferences, which will allow you to connect and learn with the other teachers. Other
examples are reading articles and blogs about new studies in education and new
teaching techniques, listening to podcasts that will help you to increase your knowledge,
connecting with other teachers on social media that helps you in gaining new insights
and lastly is asking colleagues and superiors for insights. The last trait of a good
teacher is being adaptable, a teacher can adjust their teaching methods and
expectations so they can still find success and willing to always evaluate what is
working for their students.
There are also four interpersonal skills needed to become a good teacher, these are
suspension of bias, stress management, communication, and teaching rather than
instructing. Suspension of bias, learning needs to be done in a safe environment, so
when you teach you need to remove anything that can make you see students in a less
favorable light. Stress management, as a teacher you need to be able to keep your
cool in order to be good role models for their students. Also, communication is the key
for teachers to be successful in their profession. Learning and teaching are connected
through good communication. Lastly, teaching rather than instructing, great learning
comes from teachers who are focused on that comprehension.
