Variable Exhaust Valve Timing for ME-B

Basic principle: Gain: Reduced SFOC at part load

 Shorter exhaust cams
Pmax limit
 Earlier closing of exhaust valve
 Increased Pcomp
 Increased Pcomp allow higher Pmax
Existing ME-B
Increased Pmax result in lower SFOC Future ME-B

Timing unit activated at high load to

keep Pmax limit 5 g/kWh
