Fief France 1429

• All villages must be controlled and not occupied to have a Bishop election (1.4, Errata).
• Captive Bishops cannot stop Uprisings. Captive Cardinals can by paying (1.4.1, 1.5, Errata).
• If a titled Lord who played a tax dies or loses his title before income phase, if the title remains in the
family the tax is levied normally, if the Fief’s title is now controlled by another family, they receive the
Deniers, otherwise the card is cancelled (2.4.4, Errata).
• If a Lord has 2 Fief titles, he may transfer his "smallest" Fief titles to another Lord in his family but only
during the Purchase Phase (4.3). Therefore a Lord cannot inherit Fief title from his/her spouse in case
this heritage gives him/her more than 2 Fief title (Errata). If the Fief title is gained by taking control of
a Fortified City, it is gained by the player and it can be assigned to any of the player’s Lords (4.3).
• Armies controlling a village and armies placed on a road leading to the village block each other only
during the movement phase. At the end of the movement phase they are all considered in the village
(control doesn’t change). Armies that survive the combat phase are free to move to any directions
during the following movement phase (5.0, Uwe).
• Armies must seek permission to pass through an opponent’s army before initiating a Cavalcade move
(5.2, Errata).
• If a player has more than one of his Lords taken Captive, he must start paying ransoms by the most
expensive one he can afford (6.2.4 French Rules, Omitted in En rules).
• (6.4) “After resolving his battles, a Player that still has Troops in a Village with an opponent occupied
Stronghold or Fortified City may initiate a Siege.” - The presence of a Lord is not necessary.
• D’Arc does not contribute to the price of a ransom as it is not considered a Title (BGG Forum, French
rules, inconsistent in English rules)
• D’Arc receives an extra die during Cavalcade battles as they are equivalent to regular battles (BGG
Forum).
• An army composed by D’Arc and knights can perform a Cavalcade in moves 2 and 3 even though
move 1 involved men at arm, as long as the men at arm were not left behind in an opponent
controlled village (BGG Forum).
• (10.1) “If several opponents have troops, the player who played the Uprising card chooses which
troops are attacked first.” - This means the player who played the Uprising card chooses which troops
die first. It does not mean there will be multiple die rolls. “Opponents” is seen as regard to the
uprising so it means ALL players with troops in the village including that who played the card.
• Secret Passage (10.2) can only be played on own Lords, on Saladin, and on any Uprising, even those
played by other players (Uwe).
• More captives can escape with one Secret Passage if they share the same jailer (10.2.3, Errata).
• Ambush cards (10.5) can be used to capture a Lord during a Cavalcade battles as they are equivalent
to regular battles (BGG Forum).
• A Lord may sell or give a Holy Relic to any other Lord, present in the same village, even non-
ecclesiastical Lords. This requires a Diplomacy marker (11.1, Errata).
Crusades
• If an On Crusade marker is added to a besieged Stronghold or Fortified City (C 1.2.3), the besieging
Lord may avoid becoming a Renegade by immediately interrupting the siege (6.4.1 “A siege may be
ended at any time by the besieger”).
• Bishops on a crusade cannot stop Uprisings. Crusading Cardinals can by paying (1.4.1, 1.5, Errata).
• Saracens fighters have 2 hits and 2 strength points (C 1.4, Errata “Printed version is correct”).
• When Jerusalem title is assigned ALL villages controlled by ANY players give +1 income (C 1.4.1).
• The Arab Physician cannot protect troops from the effect of the plague, only Lords (C 1.4.2 French
rules, inconsistent in English rulebook).
• Secret Passage cards can be played on Saladin by any player to cancel Attacker Penalties against a
Stronghold or Fortified Cities (C 2.3.1), or to counter Assassination and Ambush cards (Uwe).
• (C 2.3.1) “If Saladin moves into an unoccupied Objective, he only picks up the Objective’s listed
Saracen Reinforcements (not any listed Saracen Defenders).” – Also true for Objectives left empty
because the Saracens Defenders have defeated the Crusaders during Invasion of Outremer (BGG
Forum).
Politics
• After using Esmeralda ability (P 1.2) replace the discarded card with another from the same deck
(French rules, Omitted in En rules).
• Noble Attributes are distributed also to the starting Lords (P 2.0 French rules, Omitted in En rules).
Tactics
• Archers’ pre-battle ability can be used when defending from Cavalcades battles as they are equivalent
to regular battles (BGG Forum).
• Archers attacking Stronghold or Fortified City in pre-battle (TA 1.2) cannot use a Secret Passage
(10.2.2 card can be used that way in battle not pre-battle).
• The use of the Archers’ pre-battle ability against besieged troops (TA 1.2) must be followed by at least
1 dice roll of normal battle (6.3: Besieger can end battle after a roll”).
• Besieged archer can target one of the attacker’s Lords only when the assault is declared not just
anytime during the siege (TA 1.2.1, Errata).
• King or Queen accompanied by Royal Guards cannot be ambushed (TA 3, Errata).
Templars
• Excommunicated or renegaded Templar Lord retain their title but cannot be candidate to Grand
Master (T 1.1) or vote in elections (1.7.1 and C 1.2.3).
• (T 1.1) “A candidate to Gran Master is elected with simple majority and a minimum of 2 votes” – It
means the candidate must receive at least 2 votes (Errata, BGG Forum).
• Archbishops (T 1.2) “Count as a Cardinal when electing the king.” - Means they can fulfil alone the 2
Bishops votes requirement for the King election as a Cardinal would (1.8).
• (T 1.3) “If a Templar Gran Master is already been elected, the King must have the Pope’s support to
enact the Edict.” - Implies that the King if forbidden from enacting the Royal Edit if there is a Grand
Master but no Pope (BGG Forum).
• If the King enacts the Royal Edit without support of the Pope, Commanderies are pillaged and cannot
be rebuilt, but Lords can still become Templars and Gran Master elected (T 1.3).
• The Arab Physician cannot save the King or the Pope from the Grand Master curse (T 1.3 French rules,
Omitted in En rules).
• The roll for the Grand Master Curse is done also on the turn the royal edict is enacted (T 1.3, Errata).
• Templar Knight must be male (T 2.0 French rules, Errata).
• Templar Lord accompanied by Templar Knights cannot be ambushed (T 2.0, Errata).
Teutonic Knights
• Archbishops (TK 1.2) “Count as a Cardinal when electing the king.” - Means they can fulfil alone the 2
Bishops votes requirement for the King election as a Cardinal could (1.8).
• (TK 1.1) “A candidate to Gran Master is elected with simple majority and a minimum of 2 votes” – It
means the candidate must receive at least 2 votes (Errata, BGG Forum).
