Shot Technique:

This is the basic FORWARD

movement shot mechanics. Starting
from Stance to Finish.

Note the “9” formation of the hands

and the bat which is kept constant
throughout the entire shot.

Also, the “Down Swing” phase (if

stopped) at that is a DEFENSIVE
shot. The “Finish” phase is a
continuation of the shot and it is an
ATTACKING shot.

“Short” pitched deliveries
and Back Foot Shots A short pitched delivery refers to a delivery from a
bowler which pitches further away from a bater, so
closer to the bowlers half of the pitch.

The result being a higher bouncing ball around mid

sec on o the head.

For a bater, stepping forward to hit the ball will only

result in an almost unmanageable hi ng posi on
where the ball will be to high to control. In this case,
stepping back and across closer to the baters wickets,
and maintaining a higher (almost standing posi on) will
help them contend with the high bouncing ball more
comfortably. Both defensive and offensive (aggressive)
shots can be played to this type of delivery.

Square Cut ball (depending on where
ball is going)
