Paragraph sample
Alligators and crocodiles are one of the oldest and most successful groups of predators. These scaly
reptiles have been confusing and confounding humans for, well, pretty much forever. Alligators and
crocodiles share plenty of similarities, but there are actually key differences between them. Crocodile
has tan or greenish gray skin whereas Alligators have dark gray or black color. When the mouth of the
Crocodile is closed, both the top and teeth are visible, while when the mouth of Alligator is closed,
only the top teeth are visible. Crocodile has a narrow head and a long snout. Alligator on the other
hand has a wide head and wide "U" shaped snout. While the Crocodile has a sensor pits all over the
body, Alligator has a sensor pits only on the head. Crocodile lays about 50 eggs whereas Alligator lays
about 45 eggs. Crocodile builds a nest under the ground whereas Alligator builds a nest above the
ground. On the contrary, the following similarities are noticeable. Both have long tails to help them
swim and to defend themselves. Both have scaly skin to help protect them from the attacks of other
animals. Their long, powerful bodies are carried low to the ground by their short legs, and they both
have sharp teeth.
