INTRODUCTION
Inoor constructed settings like offices, schools, residences, public transit,
hotels, hospitals, care facilities, and a variety of private and public structures
all have air fresheners. In order to create a comfortable home atmosphere, air
fresheners are made to add aroma to the air or to cover up odors. Air
fresheners, however, can produce and produce a variety of potentially
dangerous air pollutants that can damage air quality, regardless of their
intended use. Hazardous air pollutants can even be released by purportedly
green and organic air fresheners.

Unpleasant odors often lurk in bathrooms and musty rooms, making the
use of these facilities intolerable. It’s main benefits is getting of odors. Natural
and healthy air freshener are used as an alternative to traditional air freshener
to reduce risk and environmental impact it is non-toxic and free of the harsh
chemicals found in air freshener you can buy at the store.

Some of the air fresheners we currently use are made with components that
may be dangerous to humans' health as well as because of the occasionally
unpleasant odors found in restrooms and other facilities, researchers are
working on a gel that can solve the problem. creating a clean and fresh
environment by using a non-toxic air freshener

Lemons have an astringent fragrance, which serves to clear the air. The
citric acid in the lemon and lemon peel neutralizes chemicals such as amines,
which are the ingredients that make fish smell so unpleasant, for example.
They eliminate unpleasant odors rather than just covering them up.

Pandan can even be used as a natural air freshener due to its delicious
scent. By absorbing unpleasant smells, it also leaves a wonderful aroma in its
wake.

The purpose of this study is to observe if the lemon and pandan extract is
effective as gel air freshener and able to lessen unpleasant odors.

Research Objectives

This study aims to determine the usability of lemon ( Citrus limon ) and
pandan ( Pandanus amaryllifolius ) extract as an gel air freshener in terms of
reducing unpleasant odor.

1. What are the characteristics of the different samples of air freshener gel
from lemon ( Citrus limon ) and pandan leaves ( Pandanus amaryllifolius )
in terms of:
a. Odor
b. Duration
2. What components of lemon ( Citrus limon ) and pandan ( Pandanus
amaryllifolius ) make it suitable as a gel air freshener?

STATEMENT OF HYPOTHESIS
Ho: The Lemon ( Citrus limon ) and Pandan ( Pandanus amaryllifolius ) extract
as an gel air freshener cannot lessen unpleasant odors

Ha: The Lemon ( Citrus Limon ) and Pandan ( Pandanus amaryllifolius ) extract
is acceptable as an gel air freshener

REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE

Nikki And Flory (2019) in their article “ The effectiveness of lemon ( citrus
limon ) fruit extract as an air freshener ” Discussed the idea behind this
product is to test if the lemon (Citrus limon L.) fruit extract is capable in
reducing unpleasant odors and gives a fine mist of aroma if it is used as an air
freshener.
Baleros et al. (2019) conducted a study about “ Effectiveness of lemon peels
( Citrus limon ) as air freshener.” A study of producing air freshener to lessen
the foul odor in restrooms and decided to use lemon(Citrus limon)peel extract
presented in the form of spray and gel. This study is an experimental study
and aims to determine if which among the states of lemon peel freshener is
effective in removing odor in restrooms.

Vera, Jerilou, D. D. (2020) “ The effectiveness of pokan peel ( Citrus Reticulate

) As air freshener.” Air freshener ingredients are largely unknown and
undisclosed, owing to regulatory protections on consumer product ingredients
and on fragrance formulations. In studies, fewer than ten percent of all volatile
ingredients are typically disclosed on air freshener labels or material safety
data sheets. From an indoor air quality perspective, air fresheners.

Bratovcic, Amra (2019) “ Synthesis of Gel air freshener and its Stability.”
Considering that air fresheners have been associated with adverse negative
health effects that was the motive for proposing an alternative way of synthesis
of gel air fresheners that is more green and more healthy.
Hardiansyah, Ridho, Nurhidayat (2020) In their article “ Effectiveness of Air
Freshener Modification with the Use of Natural Pesticides as an Automatic Tool
in Repelling Rice Eating Bird Pests.” Presently, Tests have shown that air
freshener combined with natural pesticides is an effective tool for repelling
rice-eating bird pests, with jengkol extract being the most effective. The time
interval of spraying is 10 minutes, making it a new technology in the
agricultural sector.

Ishida et al. (2021) Conducted a study about “ Bacterial Contamination

Analysis of Residential Toilet Room Environment and Delivery of Residual
Bacterial Growth Prevention Efficacy on Residential Toilet Permeable Surfaces
Using Toilet Air Freshener Product.” Discussed about a major concern in
residential houses, and many technologies and products have been developed
to remove or reduce it. To remove or prevent the malodor generated outside of
the toilet bowl, it is effective to do more frequent cleaning or place a deodorizer.

MATERIALS AND METHODS

The figure below shows the flowchart of all the procedures for the study:
COLLECTION OF MATERIALS
Four (4) average size of lemon that the researchers were going to use can
be found in the market. These lemons will be sliced with a knife. Three
hundred fifty (350) mL of pandan leaves are going to be used, which can be
found in our neighbor’s garden, and one (1) piece of gelatin powder that can be
bought at the store.

For the tools, a blender was used for the mixing process. A cutting board,
stainer, and mixing bowl. The researchers are also going to use tap water and a
pot to boil it. A measuring cup as were a stirring spoon and a small container
to place the finished product

Preparation of Lemon and Pandan Gel air freshener

To prepare the lemon peels, they must first be washed before being cut and
peeled using our hands. After that, researchers will put the lemon peels in 4
cups of water in a pot and boil them for 5 to 10 minutes. Using a strainer,
researchers are going to separate the peel to get the extract.

As for the pandan, first wash it before putting it in the blender, and filter
the pulp using a strainer to get its extract.
In the first bowl, the researchers will add 75 mL of lemon juice and 200 mL
of pandan leaf extract, along with 12 g of gelatin powder, to 2 cups of water.
For the second bowl, researchers will add 50 mL of lemon juice, 100 mL of
pandan extract, and 12 g of gelatin powder to 2 cups of water. For the third
bowl, researchers will add 25 mL of lemon, 50 mL of pandan, and 12 g of
gelatin to 1 1/2 cups of water.. Put it in a small container and wait until it
cools and molds.

In using lemon and pandan gel air freshener, make sure to put it in a closed
room, then open the lid of the gel air freshener to release the scent and freshen
your bathroom.

Air Freshener Testing

To identify the significant difference the researchers product can make in
opposition to other products in the industry, the researchers compared the duration of
the researchers product against other products circulating in the industry.

Data Analysis and Interpretation

The researchers present a data, analysis and interpretation on the
assessment of the difference between lemon and pandan gel air freshener and
other sample of air freshener in terms of odor and duration. The following are
the statistical tools used in data analysis

1. Mean - this was used to show the average of the values in the column.

2. Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) - will be used to identify if there's difference on

the three sample of gel air freshener.
