FUNCTIONAL GROUND TEST PLAN CPDLC (OPT)

1.0 SCOPE
1.1. Purpose
The objective of this procedure is to identify the necessary equipment and specify a method which
can functionally test the proper installation and operation of an optional 3rd VHF for Datalink (CPDLC)
and interface to the existing DIU/ AirCell Axxess II Satcom system on the Textron Aviation Hawker
750/800XP/850XP/900XP series aircraft.

2.0 GENERAL INFORMATION

The STC amendment adds an optional 3rd VHF datalink to support CPDLC and uses an AirCell Axxess
II SATCOM system to support Oceanic FANS 1/A+ operations.

The installation includes two options. The first option adds a new VHF-4000, antenna, CMU-4000, ECU,
and updates the IOT-4110 Input Output Table (IOT). The second option is for aircraft that have an existing
3rd VHF installed for datalink; this will update the existing CMU-4000, and IOT and replace the ECU-
3000. The new CMU-4000/ECU-3000 and IOT are to support CPDLC. The IOT is a component of the
IOC-4110 and contains software which is loaded into the IOC and provides all the program-specific
mapping information for the unit.

For the second option the existing CMU-4000 will be replaced with the new CMU-4000 and ECU-
3000. The new CMU-4000/ECU-3000 is the same size, weight, and draws the same amount of
power. The existing IOT will be updated with the new IOT to support CPDLC functionality. The existing
VHF-4000 can be used, but must be updated with SB11.

The existing SATCOM system supports Future Air Navigation System (FANS) 1/A+ in remote oceanic
airspace. FANS 1/A+ data link operations in remote oceanic airspace are transmitted via SATCOM or
VDL Mode 2 (3rd VHF) if within range.

2.2. Prerequisites
The following are prerequisites to performing this Ground Test Procedure:
 All wiring harnesses installed by this modification must have been previously “rung-out” prior
to the installation in the aircraft.
 Correct IOT & IOCU configuration is loaded and databases installed.
 Programming the CMU-4000 unit. The APM configuration programming is stored in the ECU-
3000. The External Compensation unit (ECU) is attached to the CMU mount and will stay with
the aircraft if the CMU is replaced. Ensure that the APM Programming is accomplished before
proceeding to the ground testing. Refer to document 549-00-0041 APM programming for CMU-
4000 for further details.
 The Aircell ST 4200 & DIU part number must be updated per Table 2.1.
 For testing of the CPDLC system, an account or test account will need to be setup with a
service provider. The testing procedure has been setup using ARINCDirect. Contact the
OEM/MRO account manager in your region for support. ARINCDirect web site information
https://www.arincdirect.com.
 If CVR is DATALINK capable:
o An operational test of the CVR should be performed by the mod center before the
certification testing is started. Reference Hawker 900XP maintenance manual chapter 23
for details.
o Verify pin 12 of connector 3434P2 (3434U2- CVR) is grounded as shown on WD 549-00-
0039.
