Student teacher must have authentic clearance record and present during
supervision. Nobody will be supervised without clearance.
School practice will begin on the 12th February, 2024.
Orientation of student teachers to the school of practice will commence on the
12th-16th February, 2024.
Internal supervision shall start on the 19th February to 15th March, 2024.
External supervision/ Kyambogo moderators will start on the 25th-29th
March, 2024.
In total school practice will last for seven (7) weeks.

MIN 04/01/2024 SCHOOL PRACTICE AS AN EXAMINATION.
The Registrar started by requesting the coordinators to be more knowledgeable than
the students he/she is coordinating. Student teachers should take school practice
seriously.
School practice as an examination.
Has a time table
Has supervisors
Has examinees
Is also graded
He continued that for one to qualify for this exercise, he/she must;
Be a registered examinee.
Have an identification
Show evidence of class attendance
Be able to explore the learners in the all areas.
He/she must not leave school of practice without formal permission
or notification.
Some challenges encounter by the internal supervisors when in the field;
Students refusing to be supervised
Changing school that lacks minimum standards of operation but with favor
to the student teacher
Use of outdated files
Change of mood (abnormal mood)
He concluded by telling student teachers to be serious with this practical paper as it
contributes towards their final grading.

Plan for at least seven weeks.
Failing to plan is planning to fail.

LESSON OBSERVATION TOOLS
He also said the lesson observation tools is divided into various areas with marks
attached to each as below;
The teacher:
Presentation, personality, attitude, expression etc. (8 marks)
Preparation and planning:
Two files, approved scheme of work, lesson plans and lessons notes, subject
syllabus, record of work covered etc. (10 marks)
Teacher and learner’s record:
Assessment record, teacher’s CV, school profile, register-marking and its summary,
teachers’ code of conduct etc. (10 marks)

Lesson development and presentation:
Introduction, IMS, methods, assessment policy, communication skills i.e., verbal and
non- verbal, learning environment i.e., seats, displays of IMS, lesson sequencing, ICT
integration, learners’ involvement, learners’ participation etc. (30 marks).
Content and experiences:
Mastery of the content, learning outcome and learning competences, scope and
amount of content, relevancy of the content, linkage of learner’s experiences,
content linkages to the curriculum etc. (14 marks)
Control of learning process:
Classroom management and the discipline, teacher-learner relationship, feedback
mechanism etc. (8 marks)
Assessment and evaluation
Self-evaluation of the lesson taught, follow up activities of the lesson, summary of
the lesson etc. (12 marks)
Community participation:
Co-curricular, clubs and societies activities, school routines etc. (8 marks)
MIN 07/01/2024 PROFESSIONAL CODE OF CONDUCT
This was presented by Registrar on behalf of the Dean of student who was not in the
attendance due to some commitment, he highlighted the following students ‘code of
conduct as per their coming school practice;
Living a higher standard of the teaching profession
Avoid any conduct which will bring the profession into disrepute.
Avoid vulgar/obscene language
Avoid too much excitement/disseminating un verified
information. He referred the student teachers to their professional
code of conduct. Community expectations in the student teacher;
Being a counsellor and a parent to the pupils
Being a learning facilitator
Being a symbol of authority
Being exemplary
Being knowledgeable
Spending time with them
Role model

Conclusively he said the community expect a lot from the student teachers, we need
to exhibit rightful attitude in line with our professional code of conduct without
compromise.
MIN 08/01/2024 REACTIONS AND RESPONSES
The students raise a number of questions to the administrators among which are;
Which part of the syllabus is to be attached?
How ready is the introductory letter?
Who should approve the scheme of work for practice?
Who qualifies to be given introductory letter?
Is it advisable for a student to be in an infant class due language variation?
How many times should a student teacher be supervised?
Can you type and print scheme of work?
The abridged curriculum does not indicate physical education on the time
table, how can we go about it?
Where should the school map be put in the table of content.
The responses of the officers to the questions raised:
First term syllabus with topics at least covering seven weeks
Introductory and placement letters were ready and should be picked
immediately after the seminar from the SPO for those without.
The scheme must be sign by the host head teacher or deputy.
A student doing school practice outside the school of establishment.
Language variation does not hinder supervision hence approves infant
classes.
A student can be supervised as many as possible depending on the demand
and need of the supervisor but a minimum of four times.
Yes, but must be organized.
Students doing Mathematics and physical education must indicate PE on the
time table.
In the information file together with the school profile.
MIN 09/01/2024 CLOSURE BY THE PRINCIPAL
Madam Proscovia Okello Daphine, the Administrative Secretary represented the
principal congratulated students for having successfully completed their written
papers.

She requested the SPO to give the placement and attachment letter to all the
students so as to help the host head teacher to give them enough time for
preparation.
She re-echoed that the students should avoid inadequate preparation,
disorganization, drunkardness, absenteeism from the work station without
notice, communication gap, relationship with the supervisor, time
management, good dressing code especially ladies shouldn’t have wild hair
style.
She encouraged Students not to fear because this is a normal examination
There’s still recruitment or admission for the May intake therefore the
students should propagate this information to their colleagues and two off (2
off) full time government where there is cost sharing.
Students who sign fees contract/agreement with the college should honor
it before the start of this practical exams on 12th February 2024.
Respect the law do not fall in love with learners.
Avoid beating learners, have command as a teacher.
Finally, she wished everyone success and safe journey home. And she officially
closed the seminar.
Closing prayer was said by the general secretary guild government at exactly
12:20pm.
