That’s Great!
Now, let’s have a glimpse about
what we have learned in our last
meeting.

(Anticipated pupils’ response)

What was our lesson yesterday? Our lesson yesterday was
about determining missing
term/s in a sequence and in an
equation.

What is a number sequence? Number sequence is a list of

numbers arranged in a row.

How to find the missing term/s in To find the missing term/s in a

a sequence and in an equation? sequence and in an equation,
we must first look for its
pattern.

What is pattern? Pattern is an order set of

numbers, shapes, objects,
color etc. are arranged in a
particular order.
I prepared sets of sequence, you
need to determine the missing
term/s.

1. 3, __, 7, 9, 11 1. 3, 5, 7, 9, 11
2. 5, 8, 11, __, __ 2. 5, 8, 11, 14, 17
3. 16, 22, __, 36, __ 3. 16, 22, 29, 36, 42

A. Motivation
I have here a video clip but
before watching it, let us be
reminded about the things we need
to consider in watching.
What are the standards for The standards for watching a

Yes, yes all of us.

C. Discussion
Tim has a problem and he
doesn’t know how to solve his
problem. Do you want to help him?

Here’s the problem (teacher calls

one pupil to read)

Tim wants to stay fit and so he

walks at the freedom park every (Read by a pupil)
day before going to school. What is
the distance that Tim covers every
day?

Are you familiar with these Yes Ma’am

pictures?

What is the name of this place? Freedom Park

Where it is located? Cabanatuan City
Who among you have already (varied answer)
experienced visiting the place?
What do you notice about the They have many trees.
place?
What are the importance of Trees give us oxygen.
saving trees? Trees store carbon.
Trees provide us with the
materials for shelter.

What was Tim’s doing in the

park? Walking
Do you think what makes
Tim’s stay fit? By walking
By running
By dancing/Zumba dance
What do you call those activities?
Those are all Physical exercises
How those physical exercises
important? To make our body become
Physically fit and healthy.
(Let’s go back with our problem)
What is the shape of the Freedom
Park? The shape of the Freedom Park
is rectangle.
I want you to draw the shape of
the Freedom Park on your sheet of
paper and then show it to me.

That’s correct!

(Guide Questions)
1. How many sides does a
rectangle have? Rectangle has 4 sides.

2. What do we call the two equal

lines that never intersects? Parallel lines are lines that has
the same distance and will
never intersects.
3. How many pairs of parallel sides
are there in a rectangle? There are two pairs of parallel
sides in a rectangle.
In your drawing, can you put
marks on the longer pair of parallel
sides.

4. What do you call the longer side

of a rectangle? The longer side of the rectangle
is called length.
5. How many lengths does a
rectangle have? Rectangle has 2 lengths.

Based in your drawing, can you to

put marks on the shorter sides of
this rectangle.

6. What do you call the shorter

side of a rectangle? The shorter side of the
rectangle is called width.
7. How many widths does a
rectangle have? Rectangle has 2 widths.

Going back with the problem,

what is asked? The perimeter of the
rectangular freedom park
I have here the illustration of
the Freedom Park.
(The teacher post the illustration
on the screen)

(Guide Questions)
1. What are we going to do to solve
the problem? What’s your idea? We need to get the total
distance around the freedom
2. What do we call the distance park.
around a polygon? Perimeter is the distance
around a polygon.
3. How do we find the perimeter of
a polygon? To find the perimeter of a
polygon, just add the measures
4. Is rectangle a polygon? of its sides.
Yes, it is.
If rectangle is a polygon, how to
get the perimeter of a rectangle? To get the perimeter, We need
to add all sides
What a good answer.

Let us use symbol for us to easily

identify the length and width of a
rectangle.

>Use L for length

There are two lengths let us use
L1 and L2.
>Use W for width
There are two widths let us use
W1 and W2

1. Can you give the formula in

forming the perimeter? P = S1 + S2 + S3 + S4
Is there other formula to use in
solving a perimeter? P = L1 + L2 + W1 + W2
Or
P= 2L+2W

2. Call a volunteer to substitute

the given numbers to the formula. P = S1+S2+S3+S4
= 25+25+15+15

P = L1+L2+W1+W2
= 25+25+15+15

P= 2L+2W
=2(25)+2(15)

Now, let us identify the answer.

What is the answer? = 80m

D. Application
Directions: Solve for the perimeter (Anticipated pupils’ response)
of the following real objects.
1. A notebook has a 15cm length P = L1+L2+W1+W2
and 10cm width. = 15+15+10+10
= 50cm

or

P= 2L+2W
=2(15)+2(10)
= 30+20
= 50cm

2. A sheet of paper has a 30cm

length and 15cm width. P = L1+L2+W1+W2
= 30+30+15+15
= 90cm

or

P= 2L+2W
=2(30)+2(15)
= 60+30
= 90cm

3. A cellphone has a 12cm length P = L1+L2+W1+W2

and 8cm width. = 12+12+8+8
= 40cm

or

P= 2L+2W
=2(12)+2(8)
= 24+16
= 40cm

E. Generalization
Let see if you learned something
from our lesson today.

How do we find get the perimeter of To find the perimeter of a

a rectangle? rectangle, just add the length
of its sides or
P= S1+S2+S3+S4 or
P=L1+L2+W1+W2

Very Good!
What is the simplified formula in The simplified formula in
finding the perimeter of a finding the perimeter of
rectangle? rectangle is P = 2L+2W.

Yes, for your correct answer!
