200 hours, of which 8 taught sessions (24 hours), 4 support sessions (12 hours) and 1 Turnitin support session
(2 hours) are tutor contact time, and 162 hours are independent guided study and preparation.

8. Attendance Guidance

It is expected that students will attend all lectures / seminars /tutorials to ensure effective learning and actively
engage with all directed and guided reading and preparatory activities for classes

Management research paradigms

Reserch philosphies

Research strategies
Research designs, methods and approaches

Research quality standards: establishing validity, reliability and generalisability


Sampling and Research instrument design

Research ethics

Research Data Management: collection, organisation and analysis


Using software for data analysis (e.g., NVivo and SPSS)

Managing a dissertation research project

10. Aims

The aim of this module is to enable learners to:

Understand and critically evaluate the findings of management research


Design and implement a management research project using methodologies and methods appropriate to
research questions and objectives

Analyse and report management research findings meeting academic and practitioner needs

11. Methods of Learning and Teaching and Formative Assessment

Class sessions will include tutor presentations, individual exercises, group case study work, group problem-
solving work and extensive class discussions. All class materials will be available via Moodle.

Extensive reading of texts and journals will be required as befits the Master level module, and tutor guidance
and direction will be provided.

Wherever possible, reassessment for this module will take the original form, and in all cases will meet the
required learning outcomes. Where it is difficult to replicate the exact assessment (i.e. a group assessed piece
of work or presentation), a task that is equivalent or proportionate to the original, will be set.
