TRANSFORMER

Power transformers used

in power grids to step up
or down the voltage
levels during generation
and transmission of
power. Distribution
transformers used to
supply AC mains to
consumers. The main
purpose of a transformer
is to transform voltages
at preset ratios.
GENERATORS
A Generator is a device
that converts motive
power (mechanical
energy) into electrical
power for use in an
external circuit. Sources
of mechanical energy
include steam turbines,
gas turbines, water
turbines, internal
combustion engines,
wind turbines and even
hand cranks.
DISTRIBUTION BOARD/PANEL
A distribution board (also
known as panelboard,
breaker panel, or electric
panel) is a component of
an electricity supply
system that divides an
electrical power feed into
subsidiary circuits, while
providing a protective
fuse or circuit breaker for
each circuit in a common
enclosure.
ELECTRICAL CONDUCTORS
Electrical conductor
is an object or type of
material that allows
the flow of charge
(electrical current) in
one or more
directions. A wire is a
single conductor
whereas a cable is a
group of conductors.
TYPES OF WIRES

Cleat wiring.
Wooden casing and capping wiring.
CTS or TRS or PVC sheath wiring.
Lead sheathed or metal sheathed wiring.
Conduit wiring.
DIFFERENCE BETWEEN WIRES & CABLES
The basic key difference between wires and cables is that
 A wire is a single conductor whereas a cable is a group of
conductors.
 Although, these conductors are made of a common material-
copper or aluminium.
 Usually, the wires are bare and are twisted.
 But, some of the wires are coated with thin PVC layer.
 And in case of cables, they run parallelly and are twisted or
bonded together to form a single case.
 For the safety purpose, an inner and outer sheath is made.
MINIATURE CIRCUIT BREAKER
A miniature circuit
breaker (MCB)
automatically switches
off electrical circuit
during an abnormal
condition of the network
means in overload
condition as well as
faulty condition.
Nowadays we use an
MCB in low voltage
electrical network
instead of a fuse.
FUSE
A fuse is an electrical
safety device that
operates to provide
overcurrent protection of
an electrical circuit. Its
essential component is a
metal wire or strip that
melts when too much
current flows through it,
thereby stopping or
interrupting the current.
SWITCHES & PLUGS
An electrical switch is any
device used to interrupt
the flow of electrons in a
circuit. Switches are
essentially binary
devices: they are either
completely on (“closed”)
or completely off
(“open”). There are many
different types of
switches
