8. What is your company’s history?


DHL was founded in 1969 in San Francisco, Calif., U.S., and began operating a door-to-door express delivery service, transporting
documents between San Francisco and Honolulu, Hawaii.
■ In 1972, DHL International was founded with the opening of an office in Hong Kong, followed later that year by offices
being established in Japan and Singapore. The Sydney office opened as headquarters for Australia.
■ In 1977, DHL began to move away from pure document delivery by introducing the Small Parcel Express service, which
later became Worldwide Parcel Express (WPX).
■ Between 1985 and 1988, DHL doubled its customer base to more than half a million and quadrupled the number of
shipments it handles. It's also the first express delivery company to anticipate the demand for a total logistics solution. DHL
forged ahead of the competition in 1993, opening up Eastern Europe to the express delivery industry for the first time.
■ In 2002, Deutsche Post acquired DHL, and a year later DHL began offering express and logistics solutions.
■ Deutsche Post DHL acquired Exel in 2005 and took majority stake in Williams Lea in 2008.
■ In 2012, DHL opened its biggest express hub in Asia in Shanghai and DHL Supply Chain opened MegaHub in Hong Kong.
■ 2013 Carbon free delivery- Deutsche Post DHL Group switched to electric vehicles for its delivery services in Bonn and the
surrounding region, making the city the first location in Germany with a carbon-free vehicle concept.
■ In 2014 DHL unveiled “Strategy 2020: Focus.Connect.Grow.” designed to capture the full potential of its growth
opportunities by defining its industry globally through standardized, cost-efficient, high-quality and innovative solutions.
■ In 2017 Deutsche post DHL Group committed to zero emissions by 2050. In pursuit of this ambitious new target, Deutsche
Post DHL Group hopes to contribute meaningfully to achieving the goal of limiting global warming to well below two
degrees Celsius established at the 2015 Paris climate conference (COP 21), as well as to the United Nations' 2030 Agenda

10. Is your company a private or publicly held entity?
DHL Supply Chain is part of the Supply Chain division of Deutsche Post DHL Group, a publicly traded company. Deutsche Post DHL
shares are traded as DPW on all German stock markets and via the electronic trading system XETRA.
Since 2001, Deutsche Post DHL has been included in the DAX 30. Furthermore, Deutsche Post DHL is also represented in two
international indices – a Dow Jones Titans Sector Index (non-cyclical goods and services) and the MSCI 5.

As a German stock corporation, Deutsche Post has a dual management and supervisory structure. The members of the Board of

13. Provide a summary of your current financial position.


Deutsche Post DHL Group, the world’s leading logistics company, posted a record in the past financial year (2020) despite
significant challenges. Deutsche Post DHL Group increased revenue by 5.5% year-on-year to EUR 66.8 billion in financial
year 2020. After adjusting for portfolio and currency effects, organic revenue growth came in at an even more substantial
8.5%. This growth was primarily driven by the global e-commerce boom, which led to considerably higher shipment volumes
in the parcel and express business. Operating profit (EBIT) improved by 17.4% in 2020 to more than EUR 4.8 billion. The
Group thus significantly exceeded its previously adjusted earnings target of EUR 4.1 to EUR 4.4 billion. Adjusted for one-off
effects, the underlying EBIT was even more than EUR 5.4 billion.

Following a significant reduction in highly cyclical customer activities immediately after the outbreak of the pandemic, customer
activity regained momentum in the fourth quarter. The division intensified its focus on standardization and cost discipline in the last
year. Thus Supply Chain managed to achieve an EBIT margin of 3.4% (2019: 6.7%) despite significant burdens caused by the
pandemic, while the prior-year figure benefited from a positive one-time effect from the divestment of the activities in China, among
other factors. Positively influenced by innovative and flexible solutions, the conclusion of additional contracts with new and existing
customers increased to around EUR 1.3 billion in annualized revenues (2019: EUR 1.2 billion).
