STUDY PROGRAM S1 – NURSING ACADEMIC YEAR 2022/2023 Background Mental health is very important for humans. A healthy mental condition cannot be separated from a good physical health condition. The introduction of the concept of health and illness, both physically and psychologically, is part of a human's introduction to his condition and how it adapts to the surrounding environment. The concept of Person in Environment explains that the existence of individuals in an environment will influence each other. This explains how someone who suffers from mental health disorders is the result of the individual's failure to adapt to the surrounding environment. According to WHO, mental health is a state of conscious individual well-being, in which there is an ability to manage normal life stressors. to work productively and productively, and to participate in their community. Currently more than 450 million people in the world live with mental disorders. The prevalence of mental disorders in the world's population according to the World Health Organization (WHO) in developing countries is higher. The number of people with mental disorders is increasing every year, so the treatment or treatment offered should also be more diverse, this does not apply in Indonesia where people with mental health disorders are still considered as something strange and sufferers must be isolated. Considering that nowadays people prefer to go to shamans or smart people because they still think that mental illness or mental illness is due to interference from spirits or so on. Therefore, Discussion Mental health disorder is a condition where an individual has difficulty in adjusting himself to the conditions around him. According to Riskedas 2007 data, the prevalence of mental emotional disorders in the Indonesian adult population is approximately 150,000,000. There are 1,740,000 people currently experiencing emotional mental disorders (Depkes, 2007). very few people with mental disorders are given treatment facilities. According to the calculation of the utilization of mental health services at the primary, secondary and tertiary levels, the treatment gap is estimated to be >90%. Mental health disorders can be obtained since the child is in the womb or when a person grows up. An increasingly modern life brings various kinds of demands that must be met. According to Law No. 3 of 1966 what is meant by "Mental Health" is a healthy mental state. So it can be concluded that mental health is an integral part of health and is a condition that allows optimal physical, mental and social development of individuals, and which is in harmony with the development of others. A person who is "mentally or mentally healthy" has the following characteristics: 1. Feeling happy about himself and able to overcome disappointments in life, Satisfied with his daily life, Having reasonable self-esteem, Assessing himself realistically, not excessive and not demeaning, 2. Feel comfortable dealing with other people and able to love others Have a permanent personal relationship Can respect the opinions of others who are different Feel part of a group Not "outsmart" others and also do not let others "outsmart" him, 3. Able to meet the demands of life as well as Set realistic life goals Able to make decisions Able to accept responsibility Able to plan for the future Can accept new ideas and experiences Satisfied with work. Mental health disorders are conditions of individuals who have symptoms of mental disorders. Mental health disorders are divided into three categories of causes, namely somatogenic, psychogenic, and sociogenic factors. Somatogenic factors consisting of neuroanatomy, neurophysiology, neurochemistry, maturity level and organic development, and pre and perinatal factors. Psychogenic factors include abnormal mother-child interactions such as lack of trust, father role, sibling rivalry, intelligence, relationships in family, work, play and society, loss that causes anxiety, depression, shame or guilt, patterns of adaptation and defense. as a reaction to danger, and the level of emotional development. Sociogenic factors in which there are family stability, parenting patterns, families with high or low emotional expression, income or economic level, place of residence, problems of prejudiced minority groups, inadequate health, education and welfare facilities, racial and religious influences , and values that serve as guidelines. From these three factors, it is known that the cause of mental disorders or mental disorders can not only be caused by one factor. therefore it is very possible that the cause of mental health disorders is a combination of the three categories with one category as the main cause. The causes of mental disorders are generally categorized into physical or biological aspects such as heredity, Obesity tends to psychosis, manic depression and can also become schizophrenic, temperament due to overly sensitive people, illness, and bodily injury. Santrock also explained that mental disorders can also be caused by psychological factors. The statement that human life can be divided into 7 periods and in certain circumstances can support the occurrence of mental disorders. It was explained earlier that mental or mental disorders can be caused by aspects from outside the individual, such as life in society. When a person does things beyond his capacity, it will cause excessive stress, and if not handled properly, his condition will get worse and end up in a psychiatric disorder. It is known from the Professor of Public Health at the University of Indonesia, Ascobat Gani, the minimum economic loss due to mental health problems based on Riskesdas 2007 is IDR 20 trillion. Of the total population at risk of 1,093,150, only 3.5 percent or 38,260 were newly served in mental hospitals, general hospitals, or community health centers with adequate facilities. The lack of information about mental health disorders makes people still think that this problem cannot be solved, so that there is no treatment that can be given to people with mental health disorders except being exiled or ostracized which is sometimes inhumane, such as confining in a cage or in pasung. There are still 18 thousand people with mental health disorders, especially people with Schizophrenia (ODS) who are shackled, one of them is shackled with chains. Many places for mental treatment in Indonesia are inhumane. Not to mention the cost of treatment in some hospitals and foundations is expensive. People find it difficult to accept the condition of the sufferers, they consider the sufferers to be dangerous people, patients who cannot recover their mental health, and deserve to be exiled. The concept of person in environment explains that the existence of an individual will affect and be influenced by the surrounding environment. The availability of various kinds of treatment should be a solution or answer for people who question and doubt about healing for people with mental or mental health disorders. Considered a disgrace, families with mental health disorders prefer to confine family members with mental disorders at home, In fact, it is still often found that people choose to hold stocks because they think that people with mental health disorders can endanger the safety of others. The lack of knowledge about mental health, as well as mental health disorders make people choose to be silent, and do very simple things as a form of treatment. A healthy soul is developed from infancy to adulthood, in various stages of development. The influence of the environment, especially the family, is very important in fostering a healthy soul. For example, employees or managers feel stressed if there is a pile of work or if there are difficulties in working relationships. Stress can happen to everyone and at any time, because stress is an unavoidable part of human life. Conclusion Mental or mental health is vital for humans as well as physical or body health in general. With a person's mental or mental health, other aspects of life in him will work more optimally. The strong negative stigma of society on people with mental health disorders makes sufferers do not get appropriate treatment. Considered a disgrace, families with mental health disorders prefer to confine family members with mental disorders at home, and there are even those who choose to use confinement because they think that people with mental health disorders can endanger the safety of others. With this negative stigma, it will be difficult for health institutions that handle this problem to help those who need treatment. The lack of knowledge about mental health, as well as mental health disorders make people choose to be silent, and do very simple things as a form of treatment. The lack of public openness to mental health disorders makes people trapped in their respective perspectives.
