2023 GRADE 12 NSC EXAMINATIONS

Dear Matric Class

We wish you well in your final year grade 12 examinations. In order to assist you
making the best of the opportunity please take note of the following guidelines:

IMPORTANT ISSUES WHEN YOU WRITE EXAMINATIONS


1. Always be at the examination centre at least one hour before writing starts
and ensure that you have the correct stationery and verify correctness of
date/time for your paper.
2. Produce admission letter and ID to gain access to examination room.
3. Always ensure your examination number is correct on your scripts.
4. Always write legibly and indicate questions answered on script cover.
5. Carefully read and comply with instructions of the question paper.
6. Should you miss an examination due to illness, you should submit a valid
doctor’s certificate to chief invigilator to register for subsequent June
examinations.
7. Strictly forbidden items or behaviour in the examination room:
a. cell phones, tablets, smart watches, data storage devices, iPods, programmable
calculators and other electronic devices;
b. any unauthorized material, suitcases, school bags books, notes, sketches or paper
other than official provided exam material.
c. Assisting fellow candidate/s or copying or being assisted with answers by
invigilator/s is strictly prohibited.
d. Presenting of fraudulent identification or an imposter.
e. Creating a disturbance, intimidation and drunkenness, disregarding the
arrangements and/ or the reasonable instructions of the invigilator.
NB: Possession or act described above constitute an exam irregularity irrespective of
whether you benefitted or not.

N.B: Having unauthorised material or cell phone or cheating leads to nullification


of results and barring from examinations for up to 3 years.

 Verify received question papers for relevance and don’t write


wrong papers.
 Read question paper instructions to verify whether you need
special answer book or addendum or annexure for the session.
 You may opt to register for subsequent June exams within 14 days
after receipt of your results to improve subject results.
 Verify time and date of your exam sessions and be punctual
8. Always ensure that you have the correct question paper for subject you are
supposed to write as there are no marks for writing a subject wrong paper.
9. You are not allowed to tear off any page from answer book and if you made
a mistake you should draw a clear line across for cancellation.
10. Don’t answer more question than required.
11. Check whether the paper requires a special answer book like Maths P2, Tech
Math P2, Accounting, Civil technology, etc. or whether the paper has
addendum, formula sheet, annexure, etc.
12. Raise your hand quietly to be assisted by invigilator/s in case of a challenge.
13. No explanation of examination questions may be given.
14. Ensure that you have signed the attendance register for all sessions.
15. No food or drinks are allowed in the examination room but you may place a
bottle of water on the floor in case of need.
16. No examination answer books (or part of an answer book), may be removed
from the examination room whether used or unused.
17. You are not allowed to leave the examination room within the first hour or
last 15 minutes of the examination session.
18. You will only to leave the examination room in case of an emergency after
completing movement register for visiting bathrooms under supervision.
19. You may only leave the examination room after your script has been handed
in, signed for and formally released by the invigilator.
20. Disregard of rules or instructions constitutes an irregularity.
21. Committing an irregularity will lead to you being prevented from writing the
examinations for up to three years.
