IMPORTANT - OFFICIAL BANK LETTER REQUIRED

A letter with ink signature on bank letterhead (including bank contact information) must be submitted with this Affidavit of
Support. It must be dated within six months of program start and include the name of the account holder (sponsor). It must
confirm the amount of money in the account and identify both the type of account (e.g. savings, checking, time deposit, etc.) and the
currency. The amount in the account must be at least equal to the amount pledged by the sponsor above. If the original letter is not
in English, a certified English translation must be included. Bank letters must be either original letters or color scans of the originals.

2024-25 Academic Year
International students seeking an I-20 must demonstrate full financial support for the first academic year of study with the
reasonable expectation that similar funding will be available for future years. Elmhurst University is required by federal
regulation to carefully check the financial ability of each student before issuing the Form I-20 (Certificate for Eligibility for
Non-Immigrant F-1 Student Status).
The following are cost estimates; actual costs may be higher. (Amounts are based on full-time enrollment for two semesters.)
Elmhurst University reserves the right to change tuition and fees at any time without prior notice. All international
students are required to document the full amount (less any scholarships awarded), whether they will live on-campus,
off-campus, or in the area with friends or relatives.
If the applicant is married and plans to bring a spouse and/or children, please add $4,000 per year for the spouse and $2,500 per
year for each dependent child. Elmhurst University does not have on-campus housing for married students. Family members
accompanying students in F-1 status will receive I-20s for F-2 status and will not be allowed to work in any type of employment.
International students must be admitted to Elmhurst University and follow these steps to receive an I-20:
1. Complete, sign and date a Declaration of Finances & Affidavit of Support form.
2. Provide financial support documentation. This must be a letter with official signature on bank letterhead (with
bank contact information), dated within six months of program start and including the name of the account holder.
It must confirm the amount in the account and identify both the type of account (e.g. savings, checking, etc.) and
the currency. The amount in the account must be at least equal to the amount pledged by the sponsor. If the
original letter is not in English, a certified English translation must also be included. The account must be in the
name of the sponsor signing the Declaration of Finances & Affidavit of Support form.
Please Note: If you will have more than one sponsor, complete and sign the top section (Student Information) of the Declaration
of Finances & Affidavit of Support form and provide a copy to each sponsor. Each sponsor must submit both a
completed and signed Declaration of Finances & Affidavit of Support form and a bank letter.
