Live from Ateneo de Naga University, This is World Speech Day 2023! Please welcome your
hosts, Terrence Azanes and Ianthe Rosanes!

Yani: Dios Marhay na Hapon, Bicolandia!

Terrence: Good afternoon, World!

Yani: I am Ianthe Keziah Mae S. Rosanes, a member of the Remontados Debate Society.

Terrence: And I am Terrence Azanes, also a member of the Remontados Debate Society.

Both: And we (face each other) are your hosts for today!

Yani: Today, we gathered to explore the theme of "Embracing Local Culture while promoting
comprehensive and effective communication that bridges the gaps between people." As
we all know, the Bicol Region is a melting pot of history, tradition, and culture. From its rich
culinary heritage to its vibrant arts and literature scene, the region is a treasure trove of unique
and diverse cultural expressions.

Terrence: Throughout this forum, we will delve deeper into the history of the Bicol Region,
tracing its roots, and exploring the various influences that have shaped its culture over the
years. We will savor the flavors of Bicolano cuisine, typically known for its spicy and savory
dishes that reflect the region's agricultural bounty. But today, we'll feature a "world-class" dish
that was recently reviewed internationally. We will marvel at the beauty of Bicolano art,
literature, and dance, which capture the essence of the region's identity and spirit.

Yani: Our speakers, experts in their respective fields, will share their insights and experiences
on the rich culture of the Bicol Region. We will have the opportunity to learn from their expertise
and gain a deeper understanding of the unique characteristics that make the region stand out.

Terrence: As we celebrate this year's World Speech Day, let us remember that words have the
power to bring people together, to inspire change, and to celebrate our shared humanity. Let us
honor the diversity of our local cultures, and embrace the richness and beauty they bring to our
world.

celebrate the local culture of the Bicol Region.
