ESSAY
In this day and age, when everything, from thoughts to our very lives, is undergoing breakthrough
developments, innovation in learning also plays a crucial role in our lives. Innovation in learning
is the golden key that helps us condense the amount of knowledge, information, and time needed
to absorb lessons. This innovation in learning will assist people worldwide in learning more
effectively than with old traditional methods. Now, our team will take you back to the past and to
the present moment when learning often relied on traditional methods such as reading books and
attending lectures in classrooms, causing students to often lose focus on lessons due to boredom,
easily forget acquired knowledge, and slow down the creative process. Therefore, our team is
ready to present innovations in learning methods to meet the evolving educational needs of the
future.
A. Apply technology to learning
In this day and age, technology has integrated into every aspect of our lives, including the field of
education. Therefore, to talk about new changes in learning, the indispensable thing is technology.
It is a tool that helps us complete complex tasks quickly and effectively. Especially for teachers
and students, how important is technology? Let's find out together.
1. Technology for teachers
6
Since the internet became popular and technology has advanced, online learning through social
networking sites has become familiar to everyone. The first is the use of information technology
in teaching by teachers. Online learning has no face-to-face person-to-person interaction, so it is
supposed to be unattractive. However, with the progressive development of information
technology, many specialized platforms for online teaching have been born such as Whiteboard of
My Viewboard, and Microsoft Whiteboard,... which will make online lessons highly interactive,
teachers can give more detailed lectures to students and observe students' learning progress. For
example: on myViewBoard's Whiteboard, teachers easily insert images, videos, and animations,...
from the Internet to illustrate the lesson. In addition, the platform also supports grouping students
and assigning independent assignments, helping to increase exchange and interaction in class,
making the lesson no longer boring. My Viewboard Classroom allows teachers to divide groups
easily by dragging and dropping learners' names. After splitting the group, the instructor can
independently divide the topic into each group and grant group members access to a subtable.
Members can interact on an online whiteboard at that time, making the discussion more lively and
simple. Appearing alongside online teaching tools are applications that evaluate students' online
learning results, which teachers can use, such as Google Classroom, Azota, or Shub Classroom.
All of the above applications have a general purpose for teachers to easily assess the learning
progress and the level of comprehension from which they can change teaching methods to meet
the learning capacity of students. Thanks to these applications, teachers will be more active in
teaching, assigning assignments, and testing knowledge to facilitate the development of
knowledge and soft skills in generations of students.
The above applications are aimed at a positive general purpose: To create an enjoyable and
relevant learning environment for the younger generation so that learners are encouraged to
concentrate fully. Depending on the capacity and way of thinking of each student to approach the
problem from basic to advanced. Students are supported to adapt to new technology. Save
learning time for both teachers and students. In particular, it will assist students who can enroll in
any classes at home and abroad. The application of information technology in learning has
brought both teachers and students creativity and excitement to learn. Many teaching applications
can now incorporate vivid images, audio, and video to improve the quality of lessons.
2. Technology for student
As you can see, to innovate in learning technology has supported teachers very well. And what
about for students? Join me to learn about the benefits of technology for students
2.1. Enhance collaboration
Collaboration can be supported by educational technology. Students collaborate to solve problems
through online classes and educational games. Students can share their ideas and thoughts and
encourage each other in collaborative activities. At the same time, technology allows direct
interaction with teachers. Students can ask questions about the class and receive additional
support on confusing topics. Students can upload homework and teachers can access and view
submitted assignments on their devices. Many studies have found that implementing instructional
technology improves student motivation and engagement in learning. Whether technology is used
in class or after class, students will have more opportunities to communicate with instructors,
collaborate with peers, and engage in the learning process.Web conferencing software, blogs,
wikis, social networking sites, and digital games are specific examples of technology that have
been shown to improve student engagement and communication. I can name a few websites like
7
Quizizz, Wordwall, Blooket,... which are websites that do homework in the form of games that
will help students more easily absorb knowledge.
2.2. Better communication
Students can use technology to connect with people in the classroom and around the world.
Learning to collaborate on projects using digital tools prepares students for almost any career.
Connecting with students globally promotes cultural learning and truly teaches how to collaborate
with people who are different from them. While the Internet can sometimes be a nasty, hateful
place, it can provide a tremendous sense of community and support when used wisely. Classroom
websites can benefit students of all ages. They regularly foster student connections and provide
spaces for them to collaborate on group projects. They also help learners by instilling in them a
sense of belonging and community. The websites, often filled with student work, class updates,
and assignments, simulate the experience of being a member of an online forum or group.
Students can gain experience designing, editing, and uploading files to websites. Some websites
that you can refer to are: Microsoft team, Asana, Google workspace, etc. are extremely effective
group work management software applications. It will be easier for people to manage and interact
during group work. Group work will become convenient and quickly achieve high efficiency
2.3. Manage own your learing
Expanding your skill set has become difficult and important with busy schedules and demanding
lifestyles. This is where technology comes in. Education is more convenient than ever, with
virtual lessons gradually replacing traditional lectures. Students can plan their time and study at a
time that is convenient for them. They can also pursue subjects and courses outside of their
curriculum to expand their knowledge. Technology allows for continuous access to information
and knowledge. Learning combines the use of technology from almost anywhere with regular
face-to-face classroom sessions. Lessons can be designed based on students' interests and
strengths. Another advantage is that students can learn at their own pace. Students can review the
videos in their lesson plans when they need to review class material to better understand key
concepts. Additionally, teachers can use the data generated by these online activities to see which
students are struggling with certain subjects and offer additional help and support. I will give you
some websites that will help you study and control your own learning. Google Calendar. When
you go to college, your study, work, and living schedules can easily overlap. Google Calendar can
help your child organize their schedule by day, week, or month depending on their needs. In
addition, children can also add reminders to remember daily tasks. Ebscohost web: EBSCO is a
leading provider of research databases, e-journals, e-books... Databases cover most research
fields. You can easily find reputable sources of information quickly and accurately.
B. Learning combines experience:
This is a method that encourages learners to directly explore and test knowledge, form concepts
and analyze and draw conclusions about that knowledge themselves. In the traditional method,
the teacher is often the center of the learning process, whereas, in experiential learning, the
student is placed at the center, having to discover and take control of his or her own learning
journey. The teacher only acts as a guide.
1. Extracurricular study:
Extracurricular activities are a form of teaching organization, a type of student activity conducted
outside of hours, outside the prescribed scope of the subject program. It helps students not only
consolidate and deepen knowledge, practice skills, and foster emotions, but also create comfort,
collective integration, and increase awareness of life. In traditional education, the focus is often
on the transfer of knowledge from teacher to student that takes place in a fixed, controlled
classroom environment, whereas experiential learning focuses on motivating students. interaction,
8
practical experience and application of knowledge to specific situations. The topics of
extracurricular courses can be very diverse: Workshop: This is a traditional way of extracurricular
learning, usually taking place at a fixed location and at a specific time. Workshops often focus on
a specific topic or skill and often involve direct interaction between participants and speakers:
presentation skills, public speaking, negotiation, salary negotiation, etc. Example: At the
workshop "The Art of Successful Communication" at the University of Economics - Hanoi
National University, Ms. Hoa shared about 3 types of languages to help students express
themselves when applying for jobs. Workshop "GREEN PASSPORT" of the Thuong Mai
University has provided detailed information about conditions, application process, answered
questions and difficulties that may be encountered during the admission process, and during that
time, they were close and honest sharing about the experiences of former exchange students.
Learning through projects and practice: This is extracurricular learning in which you learn by
practicing and applying knowledge to real projects. Through work and experience, you can learn
many new skills and improve your existing skills. Ex: The Faculty of Finance and Banking of the
Thuong Mai University organizes a scientific research competition for students. Experiential
learning: This is learning through participating in events, programs, and practical activities such
as interacting with students from other schools, volunteering, traveling and exploring new lands.
Ex: The Vietnam - France Cultural Exchange Festival welcomed the delegation of Toulon
University, France, creating opportunities for students of the two schools to exchange cultures,
enhance understanding and cooperation between Vietnam and France. Every month, students at
Doan Thi Diem Primary School have an experiential learning session outside of school on a
different topic. Children can visit the farm, visit the water puppetry village, the Pottery Village or
go to the movies, and there are many other interesting activities.
2. Study and work at the same time:
The learning and working training system simply means studying and working at the same time.
This form of learning helps learners acquire specialized knowledge and practice working to
accumulate experience. This type of training is for many individuals who both go to school and
work to perfect their professional knowledge or want to study another field other than the one
they are working in. Because of its unique nature, it does not focus too much on studying, so
basically the work-study system does not teach general subjects like the first year of university at
regular universities. We focus on teaching specialized knowledge. helps meet the needs of
knowledge acquirers. To create the most favorable conditions for students, universities often open
training classes in the evenings or on Saturdays and Sundays of the week. To serve the needs of
students, most universities today have this form of teaching. Advantages of this learning method:
Shorten study time while reducing financial pressure for learners. The value of a work-study
degree is equivalent to the regular system, regardless of the form of training. Be proactive in your
study time, there is no age limit or entry level of expertise. Some students may choose this system
when they do not pass the national high school exam. However, when studying while working,
there is a risk of easily neglecting schoolwork, leading to poor results during the learning process.
Many people will be overwhelmed and become depressed. Hanoi University of Science and
Technology is considered one of the strongest educational training places in the work-study
system. Students studying here have the opportunity to work at FPT branches and partners. The
human resources for FPT's systems are extremely large, so this promises to be a destination for
students who want to study while studying and working. To conclude, compared to traditional
educational methods, this learning method has a clear difference, greatly affecting the formation
of knowledge and developing skills of students. Traditional education may have some connection
to real-life situations, but it is not always clear, outcomes often revolve around the acquisition of
information and knowledge while experiential learning emphasizes the Real-world connections
9
through hands-on experiences and application of knowledge to real-life situations and
development of soft skills, allowing students more freedom in deciding how and what they want
to learn.
C. Self-study
In addition to participating in community activities and group studies, self-learning is sometimes
indispensable and extremely important. Self-learning is not just about sitting alone with books; it's
a journey of exploration and creativity. It opens up opportunities for you to adjust the learning
pace to suit yourself, creating a completely private space to absorb knowledge. To enhance the
effectiveness of self-learning, we need to focus on innovative and creative self-learning methods.
1. Interactive note-taking method:
This method combines learning various types of knowledge or skills at the same time. Instead of
passively taking notes and having to study a series of similar content continuously, learners can
be creative and dynamic with various types of knowledge. Specifically, such as the mind mapping
is a useful method to organize and visualize diverse information clearly. When facing a large
amount of knowledge to learn and remember, especially for those with short-term memory
capabilities, this can be challenging. By creating mind maps, we can transfer key ideas and
important information into a comprehensive picture on a blank sheet of paper. Additionally, using
illustrations and drawings created by oneself helps enhance visual stimulation and interaction
with the information. When you create mind maps yourself, you are creating a personalized
representation of the information. Furthemore, Using Multiple sensory input is a rather unique
method that encourages the utilization of various senses, including visual, auditory, and even
kinesthetic senses, to create diverse and vivid notes. For instance, incorporating sound, reading
aloud, or using one's own voice to present information. You can ask questions, answer them, and
even pretend to be a teacher, instructing the knowledge to others. This activation helps strengthen
connections between different parts of the brain, thereby reinforcing long-term memory retention.
2. Pomodoro technique:
It is a time management method designed to enhance focus and productivity in work or study. By
dividing time into short intervals, it helps reduce fatigue and drowsiness when working for long
periods, while also increasing focus and productivity. Such as: Anna, a university student, often
struggles to concentrate on studying and completing assignments. She often feels tired and
unfocused after a period of studying. Anna decided to try applying the Pomodoro technique to her
study schedule to see if it would help her improve focus and productivity. She set a timer and
applied the Pomodoro cycle as follows: 25 minutes of work: Anna focused on assignments or
study material for 25 minutes without interruptions, maximizing focus. 5 minutes break: When
the 25-minute time was up, Anna stopped and took a 5-minute break. She used this time to stand
up, move her body, and relax her mind gently. Repeat the cycle: After completing the break time,
Anna continued with a new Pomodoro cycle by resetting the timer and working for the next 25
minutes. As a result, she completed more tasks in a short period and felt more confident about her
studying abilities.
3. Feynman method:
The Feynman Study Method is an effective learning method named by physicist Richard
Feynman. This method focuses on explaining, understanding and applying knowledge deeply by
teaching others. Here are the basic steps of the Feynman method: Choose a topic to study: Start
by choosing a topic or concept that you want to understand more deeply. Explain as you are
teaching someone else: Put yourself in the role of the teacher and try to explain the topic simply
10
and clearly. Use simple words and easy-to-understand examples. Find gaps in your knowledge:
As you explain, you may notice gaps in your knowledge. This is normal and beneficial, as it will
help you identify areas that need strengthening. Go back and clarify those points: When you
notice points that are vague or unclear, go back and learn more. Use different sources,
explanations from many different sources to have a comprehensive view. Repeat the process:
Repeat the steps above until you can explain the topic simply, clearly, and confidently. The
Feynman method of studying is especially useful because it not only helps you gain a deeper
understanding of a subject, but also helps you test your own understanding and identify weak
areas that need improvement. Example: A person named Merino comes from Spain. Merino
wants to improve his English speaking ability, especially in expressing opinions and discussing
complex topics. He decided to apply the Feynman method to achieve this goal: Firstly, Merino
first decided to choose the topic of climate change as a starting point, because it was a topic he
was interested in and wanted to discuss with English speakers. Secondly, Merino began
introducing herself on the topic of climate change in English, using simple words and trying to
express his idea clearly. Thirdly, while explaining to others, Merino realized that he did not feel
confident in using vocabulary and complex sentence structures to express his ideas accurately and
naturally. After that, Merino began to study more vocabulary and complex sentence structures
related to the topic of climate change. He uses textbooks, online materials, and takes online
English classes. Finally, Merino continuously practices and practices expressing opinions on the
topic of climate change in English. He continuously improves by listening to feedback from
others and adjusting his learning methods.
4. Personalized learning:
This is a modern educational method, completely different from traditional classrooms. In which
the learning process is customized to meet each person's unique needs. Instead of applying a
uniform teaching method to all subjects, personalized learning focuses on optimizing the training
process for learners based on: Receptive capacity, Interest, Strength, Weakness, Learning goals,
Ability to absorb knowledge. It helps each student learn in the way that works best for them.
Here's how personalized learning works: Customized Content: In personalized learning, the
content is adapted to match the interests, abilities, and learning styles of each student. This may
involve offering a variety of resources such as videos, interactive modules, or reading materials to
accommodate different preferences. Flexible Pace: Unlike traditional classroom settings where all
students progress at the same pace, personalized learning allows individuals to advance through
material at their own speed. Students can spend more time on topics they find challenging and
move quickly through areas where they excel. Individualized Support: Personalized learning
provides tailored support and feedback to address each student's specific needs. This may include
one-on-one instruction, small group activities, or digital tools that offer targeted assistance.
Student Ownership: Personalized learning empowers students to take ownership of their
education by allowing them to set goals, track progress, and make choices about how they learn.
This fosters a sense of autonomy and responsibility for their own learning journey. Data-Informed
Decisions: Personalized learning utilizes data to inform instructional decisions and identify areas
for improvement. Teachers can track student performance in real-time and adjust their approach
accordingly to ensure each student is receiving the support they need to succeed. In short,
innovation in learning is not only important for students and teachers but also has a powerful
impact on people worldwide. As the world integrates more deeply, learning innovation in
Vietnam becomes a link with the intellect and cultures of countries globally. Consequently, the
11
younger generation and educators in our country will increasingly adopt new learning
technologies, develop critical thinking, and apply autonomous learning methods. However,
alongside numerous benefits, there still exist certain limitations. Therefore, individuals need to
carefully consider and avoid the misuse of innovations that might erode their own creative
thinking.
