Anna Cape Tutorial
Fabric:
I used felt bought by the yard for this project. Why? Well this was going
to strictly be a dress up cape for my daughter....we live in Dallas, there is
never a need for a real winter cape ;) I love felt because it doesn't need to
be finished, I didn't hem or line at all, plus it's affordable since you will
need much more fabric. You could also use fleece for the same reason-
no need to finish seams or hem.
If you prefer to line the cape you need to use a cotton or something
LIGHT weight. If you line each piece, it will be very very thick and
difficult to sew.
Sizing:
If you're like me and choose a fabric you aren't going to hem or line, you
are going to want to size down 1 size. My daughter wears a 3-4 in the
caplet pattern, so I cut the 1-2. Finished length is from back of neck to
hem. I will tell you how to easily adjust length in tutorial.

Additional Supplies:
You will need to buy additional fabric to get the length under the caplet.
Estimate given will need to be added to the fabric requirement from the
Hooded Caplet pattern:

Optional 1-2 packs rick rack, about 2 yards pom poms, lace or other trim
Hook and eye
Now measure and mark 2.5” from the bottom of the hood. (see pink
below.) Then cut away top piece.
Cut pieces according to Hooded Caplet pattern, subbing the hood for your
new collar piece. You should have 2 front caplet pieces, 1 back caplet
piece and 2 collar pieces.
Now we need to cut our long cape pieces. Use the chart below to see how
much length you need to add to your caplet piece:
Now put caplet on top of cape. Wrong side of caplet to right side of cape.
We will now attach the collar. (see yellow above.) If you are like me and
did not line your collar pieces, you will need to cut off 1/2” from each
FRONT of collar piece. (see purple below.)
If you want to add pom poms or trim do so now! I like to add poms and
rick rack.
Now add your hook and eye with needle and thread. I got this one for $2-
not on sale- at Joann's. It has the perfect 'Anna' look!
