(Making and receiving telephone calls)
Belajar "telephoning" atau making a phone call bagi anda semua merupakan suatu keharusan
dalam belajar bahasa Inggris. Karenanya silahkan ikuti pembahasan kali ini tentang
"Telephoning, Making a Phone Call" dalam Bahasa Inggris” yang dilengkapi juga dengan
percakapan telepon untuk latihan langsung. Ya, sebelum itu, kalau bingung dengan bahasa yang
digunakan kita perjelas terlebih dahulu bahwa sesi ini kita akan belajar cara menelepon dalam

Dalam pelajaran ini pertama kita akan belajar bagaimana tata cara dalam menelepon khususnya
dengan kebiasaan dalam bahasa Inggris. Dalam hal ini maka kita akan mempelajari etika
menelpon dan menerima telepon, tentunya dalam ukuran kesopanan dan profesionalitas. Nanti
kita juga akan belajar berbagai ekspresi atau kalimat-kalimat yang biasa digunakan dalam
aktivitas ini. Maka dari itu penting sekali untuk kita semua mengikuti sesi materi bahasa Inggris
ini sampai selesai.
Dalam percakapan melalui telepon dengan menggunakan bahasa Inggris yang perlu diperhatikan
secara umum adalah kesopanan dan kesantunan penelpon. Secara ringkas beberapa tata cara
melakukan panggilan telepon yang baik dalam bahasa Inggris adalah sebagai berikut:
1. Speak clearly
2. Use the company's preferred greeting, if there is one. If not, state the name of the
business
3. Be polite and responsive, giving the caller your full attention. Remember that at that
moment, you're the company's representative.
4. Be as helpful as possible, even if it's not exactly your job to answer the phone.
5. Learn how to use the phone's features smoothly.
6. Ask permission first if you must put the caller on hold: "Would you mind holding for 1
minute?"
7. Don't forget the caller is waiting. Ask them periodically if they'd like to continue to hold,
call back or leave a message.
8. Transfer the caller to someone who can help, if you can't.
9. Take a good message, if applicable, and pass it on to the recipient.
10. Thank the caller.
