About Conference
Indian economy is progressing as a bright star in the present global scenario. GIFT city at Gandhinagar is being
showcased by the government as a worldclass financial center. Plethora of tax incentives are being proposed by
the government. It is imperative to understand the nuances for the benefit of investors at the GIFT city.
Promotion of a financial centre like GIFT city runs in conflict with the principles laid down by GloBE rules under
Pillar Two solution to the challenges of digitalized economy.
Minimum standards agreed upon by the inclusive framework member countries of OECD G20 BEPS Initiative with
respect to prevention of treaty abuse is to be honored and implemented either through joining the MLI or
bilaterally negotiating such provisions in the treaty. Protocol recently proposed in the India - Mauritius tax treaty
pending ratification is one such example. It is interesting to evaluate the trends of tax treaty policy, India has
been adopting in the recent times. The threshold for Treaty entitlement have been tightened in the post MLI era.
Holding foreign assets and bank accounts and the related disclosures by residents of India under the Black
Money Act, 2015 is very critical in terms of compliance, especially in the era of rising cross-border investments
by HNIs. Software taxation has been a vexed issue even after the decision of the Hon’ble Supreme Court on
account of review petition pending against the same.
In this backdrop of changing global dynamics in the international taxation landscape, IFA India and ITRAF have
thought of fit to lineup a conference to deal with the topics mentioned above. This conference would immensely
benefit tax executives in the industry, practitioners, academicians and young students.
