1 Scope
This specification defines rules concerning chemical substances to be avoided in any product
delivered to WABCO as working and service materials, components, subassemblies or devices.
There are two categories of substances:
These substances shall not be contained at all - or only in quantities not exceeding a permitted
maximum concentration - in any product delivered to WABCO or applied during manufacture.
The application of these substances should be reduced and avoided as far as possible. Without
being asked, the supplier has to notify WABCO of their application. Their application is only
permitted with WABCO’s explicit consent.
2 Regulations
2.1 Prohibited Chemical Substances
Chemical substances which are listed in the latest versions of one of the following documents are
prohibited from being used above the permitted concentrations:
• Chemical substances marked as being prohibited in the “Global Automotive Declarable Substance
List (GADSL)” http://www.gadsl.org/
• Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) with more than 0,1% concentration which are listed in
the REACH Candidate List in accordance with Art. 59(1) or in REACH Annex XIV (Regulation
1907/2006/EC)
• Substances prohibited according to „Directive 2000/53/EC of the European Parliament and of the
Council of 18 September 2000 on end-of life vehicles“
• Chemical substances which are listed in chapter 3 of this standard as prohibited (P).
• Chemical substances marked as declarable in the “Global Automotive Declarable Substance List
(GADSL)” http://www.gadsl.org/
• Chemical substances which are listed in chapter 3 of this standard as declarable (D).

4 REACH Conformity
The supplier shall ensure that all substances, substances in preparations and/or substances in
articles requiring registration are only supplied if they have been registered according to Art. 5 and
Art. 6 or Art. 7(1) of the Regulation 1907/2006/EC. In the same way, the supplier shall ensure that
for substances in supplied articles subject to notification according to Art. 7(2), the notification
is made by the supplier or - if the article is not manufactured or imported by the supplier itself - an
upstream supplier, or that the substance has alternatively been registered for the intended use (Art.
7(6).
In case of changes in the material composition of products delivered to WABCO this has to be
notified without request by a new Initial Sample Inspection Report and an amended Material Data
Sheet.
Specification
