ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who have supported and
guided us throughout the research and development of this project on the library
system.
Firstly, we are profoundly grateful to our advisor, Kaelf Dave P. Noguerra, whose
expertise, understanding, and patience, added considerably to our research
experience. Your guidance and encouragement were invaluable, and we are truly
thankful for your insight and feedback at every stage of this project.
We are would also like to thank the faculty members of the Department of College of
Information Technology at Northeastern Mindanao Colleges for their support and for
providing a conducive learning environment.
We also indebted to the library staff at NEMCO library, whose cooperation and
assistance made our research more comprehensive and insightful. Their willingness
to provide access to necessary resources and their valuable input have greatly
contributed to the success of this project.
Our appreciation also extends to our family and friends, who offered their time to
discuss ideas and provided moral support throughout the process. Your
companionship and encouragement have been a significant source of motivation.
Finally, we would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our family, whose
unwavering support and belief in us have been the cornerstone of our academic
journey. Your sacrifices and encouragement have enabled us to pursue our goals
with confidence and determination.
This project would not have been possible without the collective efforts and
contributions of everyone mentioned above. Thank you all for your support and belief
in our work
The Proponents
ABSTRACT
The research project titled “Library System" aims to design, develop, and evaluate a
modern library management system that addresses the limitations of traditional
library systems. The study explores the integration of advanced technologies to
enhance the functionality, accessibility, and user experience within library
environments.

CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
This chapter comprised the project context, purpose and description objectives of the
study and scope and limitation of the study.
Project Context
The change from traditional systems of cataloging to that of the modern library
system is one of the most profound changes in the management of information.
Libraries are implicit with the academic and public knowledge domains as storage
places of the books, journals and other informative materials. But due to the
advancement in technology, there is need to adopt new systems in the libraries in
order to satisfy the increasing needs of the users on the use of efficient methods in
getting information.
The studies conducted here will examine the current bibliographic systems
that enroll with the label of modern library systems. The study seeks to establish how
these systems support library services, the level of user satisfaction, and the
efficiency of libraries’ management. Therefore, based on the results of case analysis
and users’ responses, the authors aim at revealing examples of best practices and
possible pitfalls in the implementation of brand-new technologies in the context of
libraries.
The purpose of this research is to explore and evaluate ways to enhance user
accessibility and engagement within digital library systems. The study aims to
identify and analyze the effectiveness of various interactive features and usability
enhancements that can improve the overall user experience in digital libraries.
General Objective
This objective aims to enhance how digital libraries operate, ensuring they
meet the needs of users and administrators effectively.
Specific Objectives
4, To Enhance Usability
7. To Provide Recommendations
Scope and Limitations
Scope
Catalog Management:
- Facilitating easy search and retrieval through various search parameters (e.g.,
author, title, subject, ISBN).
User Management:
- Keeping records of all registered users, including students, faculty, and external
members.
Circulation Management:
- Handling check-in and check-out processes.
- Managing holds, reservations, and renewals.
- Tracking overdue items and issuing fines.
Acquisition and Inventory:
- Supporting the acquisition process from purchase requests to order
processing.
- Managing the inventory of all physical and digital assets.
User Interface:
- Offering an intuitive and user-friendly interface for both library staff and
users.
- Providing features like personalized recommendations, reading history,
and wish lists.
Limitations
Resource Constraints:
- Limited budget for acquiring new resources and maintaining existing
ones.
- Space constraints for storing physical collections.
Technology Limitations:
- Dependence on the stability and reliability of IT infrastructure.
- Compatibility issues with different types of software and digital formats.
- Potential cybersecurity threats and data privacy concerns.
User Accessibility:
- Challenges in providing equal access to all users, especially those with
disabilities.
- Limited availability of digital resources for users without internet
access.
Interoperability:
- Difficulties in integrating the library system with other institutional
systems (e.g., student information systems, financial systems).
- Challenges in maintaining interoperability with other libraries for
interlibrary loans.
Data Quality and Management:
- Ensuring the accuracy and consistency of catalog data.
- Managing large volumes of data and avoiding redundancy and
obsolescence.
DEFINITION OF TERMS
This part discusses the review of related literature and the system of the
review of the relevant studies and its use to concede the researcher’s findings.
According to E. Valenti (2016) from the article entitled “The State Of Library
Management Systems” are systems that helps big in terms of some transactions on
the library. On this article the automated library systems said that it can do
multitasking. It can do recording books on library but it can also make different
transactions. It will make the library service convenient like making card cataloging.
Therefore multitasking inside the library is very nice. The system will be the one who
records all the transactions inside the library so it decreases the tasks of the librarian
so it can avoid the cases of lost records due to human errors
