DAILY LESSON PLAN

Learning Area: Science and Technology 10 Quarter: III

Date: 2/5-8/2024 Grade & Section: 10-St. Marcelo

Content Standards: Students demonstrate understanding of the relationship between electricity and magnetism in
electric motors and generators
Performance Standard: Explain electromagnetic induction and its application
The learners should be able to:
I. MELC/Objectives Distinguish between a motor and a generator;
Discuss how a generator and a motor work
II. Content/ Topic: Generators and Motors
Ramos, J. D. A., Manosca, L. G., Silverio, A. A., Ramos, A. C. & Pisuena, M. E. V.
III. References (2019). Exploring life through science: The new grade 10 K-12 ed., 2nd ed. Quezon City,
Philippines: Phoenix Publishing House, Inc.
IV. Instructional Laptop, PowerPoint, Projector, Learning Activity Sheet, Video, Chalk, Spoon, Mirror
Materials and Lens
V. Teaching Procedure
I. PREPARATION
A. Preliminaries
i. Prayer
ii. Checking of Attendance
iii. Motivation
A. Introduction:
Ask and Think:
“Electricity can used to produce magnetism, and magnetism can used to produce
electricity”

Ask the students about power plant they know?

Day 1-2
A. Electromagnetic Induction

B. Interaction
A. Electric motor is a machine that converts electrical energy to mechanical energy.

B. Electric generator is a machine that converts mechanical energy to electrical energy.

C. Electromagnetic induction is the creation of an electro-motive force (EMF) by way of

a moving magnetic field around an electric conductor and, conversely, the creation of
current by moving an electric conductor through a static magnetic field.
Activity:
Solve Practice Exercise 9.1 on page 184 of your book

Assignment:
Bring Scientific Calculator tomorrow

Day 3
B. Generator

How do generators work step by step?

In a gas-powered generator, an internal combustion engine provides the
mechanical force needed to generate a current. The engine spins a shaft which
rotates an electromagnet (armature). The rotating armature spins inside a
stationary magnetic field (stator) to produce electrical current through copper
wiring.

Activity:
Solve Practice Exercise 9.2 on page 187 of your book

Day 4
C. Motor
What is the idea of motor?
An electric motor is a device that converts electrical energy into mechanical
energy. It can be powered by direct current (DC) sources such as batteries or by
alternating current (AC) sources such as power grids and generators.

How are generators useful during power outages?

C. Integration
Why are motors essential components of our home appliances?
Electric motors and generators are fundamentally similar in that they both rely on
D. Closure/ electromagnetic principles. Both gadgets give mechanical strength, or the ability to
Generalization convert electrical energy, through the interplay of an electric cutting edge and a
magnetic field.
E. Assignment Read about Human reproduction, on page 200 of your book
Conserve electricity
Values Integration
Appreciation for the benefits brought by electromagnetic induction
