C-REACTIVE PROTIEN (CRP) 2.09 mg/L New Born up to 3weeks :< 4.1
Infants& children :< 2.8
Adults : Upto 6
METHOD : IMMUNOTURBIDIMETRY
NOTE :
1 . CRP is an acute-phase protein present in normal serum, which increases significantly after most forms
of tissue injuries, bacterial and virus infections, imflammation and malignant neoplasia. Urine tissue
necrosis and inflammation resulting from microbial infections, the CRP concentration can rise up to 300
mg/L, in 12 – 24 hours.
2 . Clinical diagnosis should not be made on findings of a single test result, but should integrate both
clinical and laboratory data.

Interpretation : Uric acid is a chemical created when the body breaks down substances called purines.
Uric acid is the end product of the purine metabolism. Uric acid is excreted to a large degree by the
kidneys and to smaller degree in the intestinal tract by microbial degradation. Increased levels are found
in gout, arthritis, impaired renal functions and starvation. Decreased levels are found in Wilson’s disease,
Fanconis syndrome and yellow atrophy of the liver.

METHOD : IMMUNOTURBIDIMETRY
N.B: ASO is a group of specific antibodies developed against exoenzyme produced by Beta hemolytic
streptococci of groups A, C & G. Measuring the ASO antibodies are useful for the diagnosis of
rheumatoid fever, execute glomerulonephritis, bacterial endocarditis and streptococcal infections.
Rheumatic fever is an inflammatory disease involving connective tissue from several parts of human
body as skin, heart, joint etc. and acute glomerulonephritis is a renal infection that effects mainly to renal
glomerulus.

N.B: Rheumatoid factors are a group of IGM antibodies directed to determinants in the Fc portion of the
immunoglobulin G molecule. Although rheumatoid factors are found in a number of rheumatoid
disorders, such as systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and sjogren’s syndrome, as well as in
nonrheumatic conditions, its central role in clinic lies its utility as an aid in the diagnosis of rheumatoid
arthritis. The rheumatoid factors are found in 70-100 % of causes of definite rheumatoid arthritis
depending on the test procedure used to detect them.
