C. DEEPEN

“Did you understand the story, class?”

“Now, answer these questions.”

Class, if you were to be asked, should a tradition still be ( A student will be called to
followed even though it will break you and your family or state his/her opinion)
friends’ relationship like what happened in the story?

So that is your opinion and that lies under the

declarative sentence. Declarative sentence states a fact
or opinion and it ends with a period.

Now, let me introduce you the four types of sentences ( Student will volunteer to
according to use. Would someone read this sentence read the first sentence: “ A
for me? declarative sentence makes a
statement. It ends with a
period.)

Thanks. Now, let’s take a look at the example (Student answers: Ma’am,
sentences. This one is a declarative sentence. Could because it gives an idea and
you tell me the reason why it’s classified as declarative? it states a fact. It also ends
with a period)

Well said, Now, can somebody give me an example of ( Varied answers)

a declarative sentence?
Nice answers! Now let’s talk about the second type of ( Student will volunteer the
sentence. Would someone read the definition? read the first sentence. “ An
interrogative sentence asks a
question and ends with a
question mark.)

Nice one and could you give me an example as well” ( Varied answers)

Amazing job! It’s easy to understand, right? Remember

that an interrogative sentence ends with a question “Yes, Ma’am!”
mark. Did you get it?

I also want to remind you that you have to read an

interrogative sentence well. You have to sound like
you’re really asking a question. Don’t just read it as if “Yes, Ma’am!”
it’s a declarative sentence so you won’t be
misunderstood when someone listens to you.

So let’s proceed to the next kind of sentence which is “ An imperative sentence

the imperative sentence. Please read the definition. gives a command or request
or direction. It also ends with
a period or exclamation
mark.”

Thanks. Now, le’ts check example sentences. It ends ( A student volunteers and
with a period but that doesn’t mean it’s a declarative answers: Ma’am, it’s because
sentence. Can somebody explain why? the sentence do not state fact
an opinion. It states a
request.)

You got it! Perfect! Now, I want you class to give me an ( Varied answers)
example of an imperative sentence that gives an order
or direction.

Well done! So, what about an imperative sentence that ( Varied answers)
expresses a request?

I could see that you got a little confused with the ( Student read: “ An
imperative sentence, but I am glad you were able to get exclamatory sentence
its uses. Nice try for those who gave their answers! expresses a strong feeling. It
Now let’s discuss the last type of sentence. ends with an exclamatory
Exclamatory sentence. Please read the definition mark.”)
Thanks, That’s good. Now, I know you’ll find it very ( Varied answers )
easy to understand its uses. Can somebody give me an
example?

Well done, class! Do you have any questions? Any ( Varied answers )
clarifications?

“ Nice. I am pleased with your participation. Now let’s
