I.

Historical places
1. Have you ever been to any historical places in Vietnam?
To date, I have been to many places here in Vietnam. However, the number of
historical places that I have visited account for the majority of all. To be more
specific, I have been to Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi, the Reunification Palace
in Ho Chi Minh and the Imperial City of Hue.
2. Which historical places left the deepest impression on you?
To be honest, among all the places that I have visited, I love the Imperial city of Hue
the most partly because it is the archive of all ancient essences of the Nguyen Dynasty
of Vietnam and partly because I fell in love with the tranquility of this place. I think
that the Imperial city of Hue is worth visiting for anyone first coming to Vietnam.
3. What interests you the most about historical places?
To be honest, I love beholding all the artefacts and ancient tools used by our
ancestors. They really arouse my interest and curiosity at the same time. What I mean
by this is that I am into delving into the history of Vietnam and all sorts of mysterious
stories from the past.

II. Work and study

1. Why did you choose to do that type of work (or that job)?
The reason why I chose to be working in this field is because this profession is
thriving in my country and being good at it can help me earn a lot of cash to sustain a
good life. In fact, if you're among the top in marketing you can earn up to $6000 a
month which is nearly 6 times higher than other professions.
2. Do you miss being a student?/ Do you enjoy being a student?
I do miss being a student sometimes, simply because I was so carefree and stress-free
during that time. Now I have to wake up every morning with a financial burden on my
shoulder. However, I think such responsibilities are needed for my maturity.
3. Do you like your job/study?
Absolutely. I get to work in such a dynamic environment alongside people who are so
creative and unique. This makes me feel like I need to try harder to think outside of
the box and to innovate more.
4. Do you work or study?
I'm currently working as an intern for a marketing company. It's an entrance position
so the workload is not too much and the salary is quite low. I've been holding this
position for about 3 years and I’m looking forward to being promoted real soon.
5. Do you plan to continue with your job in the future?
Definitely. I want to be able to advance more in my career as there is still a lot of
room for me to grow. I feel like I will only leave this job if I feel stagnant in this
position.
III. Weather
1. What’s the weather like today?
The weather is quite nice today actually. There was a drizzle on my way here so it has
cooled down the atmosphere a little bit, since it tends to be hot at this time of the day.
I wish everyday could be like this. It’d be really nice.
2. What’s your favourite kind of weather?
Well, I enjoy cloudy days. That’s because it’s really hot in Vietnam all the time so I
get really sweaty and uncomfortable when the sun is out. On sunny days like that I
just tend to stay at home.
3. Do you like the weather in your country?
To some extent, I guess. I mean, it can be really hot at times but overall it’s nowhere
near the extreme. At least we don’t have freezing temperatures or burning hot climates
here. It’s a quite habitable land to be fair.
4. Does the weather ever affect the way you feel?
Oh definitely. I tend to be quite fussy when the weather’s hot. The heat does get to me
and makes me lose my cool. At times like that I just want to stay inside and avoid
going out at all costs.
5. Does the weather in your country ever affect transportation?
Not that I can remember. Like I said, the weather here is mild and by no means
extreme. That’s why there has been no clear effect on transportation, unlike countries
like Canada where snowstorms can block roads.

III. Travel
1. Do you like to travel?
Absolutely yes, I am really into exploring new places not only in Vietnam but also in
many parts of the world. In other words, I am fond of globe-trotting which allows me
to delve into various kinds of culture and wind down after working long hours.
2. Where do you like to travel to?
Actually, there is no specific place to which I’d love to go. Instead, I usually travel on
a whim with unplanned trips and with random people. This means that I always go on
a trip to another place after 1 or 2 days of suddenly coming up with an idea, and I will
go with a random friend or relative that I may think of.
3. Do you prefer to travel alone or on a tour?
To tell the truth, traveling on a tour may help sort out all potential problems, but I
prefer doing everything by myself. Thus, going somewhere alone is a better option by
which I am free to go and stop at will or choose my own itinerary.

IV. Homelessness
1. Do you usually take part in charity work?
To be honest, I am now the manager of a charitable organisation which was
established 3 years ago. We frequently organize some sort of charity events in order to
raise money to help the poor. Personally, I think that we had better help those in need
when we have chances.
2. Are there many homeless people where you live?
As far as I’m concerned, there are numerous people here in Ho Chi Minh city who are
spending their days on pavements and in parks. They live by essentials provided by
patrons and some charitable organizations. Although there have been some policies
imposed to help them, nothing has been improved much.
3. What do you usually do to help the homeless?
Truth be told, I always buy small portions of food and bring them all to those people
every evening. I think this is a chance for me to do something to help those in need.
Indeed, when I do this, I feel the inner peace, and I am not asking for anything in
return.

V. Business
1. What kind of business are you interested in?
Truth be told, I am really into the food and beverage industry for the simple reason
that it caters to the needs of millions of people in my country and requires much
creativity of workers in the field.
2. Do you like to run your own business?
Well, it is hard to tell since operating a company requires tons of knowledge and
experience. Without them, anyone would be pushed to the verge of bankruptcy in no
time.
3. Do you prefer to work for a multinational company or a domestic one?
As far as I’m concerned, both options have their pros and cons, so it takes much time
for me to ponder and conclude. However, if I have to pick one, I would definitely go
for the former since a multinational company offers me a chance to interact with
people from all walks of life, and immerse myself in a multicultural environment.

VI. Global warming

1. Do you care about global warming?
To be honest, I am much aware of this phenomenon since it has been negatively
affecting our lives in many ways. Since high school, I have been taught about how our
world would be changed if global warming happens for a long time.
2. Is this phenomenon affecting your life anyway?
Truth be told, global warming is really impacting not only my life but also my
country. Indeed, as the overall temperature is rising more and more, summers are
hotter than ever, which threatens old people’s health. Moreover, wildfires are
happening more frequently, thereby killing numerous creatures.
3. How did you know about global warming?
If memory serves right, I first got to know this term when I was in high school. It was
a geography class when my teacher was talking about this global phenomenon. After
that, I also hear all kinds of information about this on TV and on the internet. And
nowadays, this has become a heated debate on social media platforms and has been
concerned by many people.

VII. Celebrities
1. Who is your favorite singer?
Well, Celine Dion is the singer whom I respect and admire the most. This is because
of her talent and wonderful personal life which can be a good sample for every family
to follow. Indeed, her vocal skills are amazing and her married life is a standard for
many other celebrities to look up to.
2. Who is the most popular singer in Vietnam?
To my knowledge, My Tam is the most renowned singer in Vietnam. She has been
performing for more than 10 years with numerous hits which really make people sing
along when listening to them. Not only does she excel in singing but she is also a
successful businesswoman who is running 2 companies at the same time.
3. Do you prefer a good voice or a nice appearance of a singer?
I’d love to choose the former. As for me, nothing can beat a beautiful voice with
impeccable pitch and skills. In other words, when it comes to listening to music, I
prefer the quality of the sound I hear, not the looks of a singer.

VIII. Animals
1. Do you like going to the zoo?
To be honest, I am really into exploring the animal kingdom, so zoos are perfect
places for me to get to know more about mammals, birds, reptiles, amphibians and
fish. In my city, there is a spacious zoo where I frequently visit to take photos of
animals and feed them, which is exhilarating.
2. What kind of animal do you like?
Well, I am a cat person, so my mind is haunted by this kind of animal all the time.
Truth be told, I have a cat at home and he is so attached to me. Whenever I go, he
follows and rubs his head against my feet, which I find so adorable.
3. Do people keep pets at home in your country?
As far as I’m concerned, as the standards of living in Vietnam are being enhanced,
more and more people tend to buy a pet to raise at home. Fish, cats and dogs are the
most popular ones, while guinea pigs or reptiles like snakes and lizards are rare.

IX. Body
1. Do you care about your appearance?
Truth be told, I am the kind of person who really pays much attention to how I look. It
is to say that before heading out for work, I usually look at myself in the mirror for
around 10 minutes to make sure that I am presentable and neat.
2. Are you afraid of how people talk about your appearance?
Well, never judge a book by its cover, and it is always true in most situations since we
may not be the apple of everyone’s eyes. Therefore, I think that there is no need to
have all the criticisms ingrained in our head. And all that I want to do is to be my true
self.
3. What is the common opinion about a woman’s beauty in your country?
As far as I’m concerned, there is nothing so-called “a stereotype” when it comes to
how a woman should look. What I mean is that it is just a matter of each individual’s
perspective, but generally, most people from previous generations prefer women who
dress traditionally.
