abstract
There have been big advancements in communication technology in these past few year. But
communicating under water is still a big issue. There isn’t any promising technology that can
assist humans to communicate seamlessly under water with low latency and high audio
quality. Traditional radio frequency (RF) communication suffers greatly in underwater
conditions because of its short transmission range, slow data rates, and high interference. This
study suggests a revolutionary deepwater communication system based on Light Fidelity (Li-
Fi) technology to address these issues. The ATMega328 microcontroller is used for effective
data transmission and reception. Li-Fi is a wireless technology that transmits data using
visible light and shows promise as a deepwater communication option. Light transmissions,
which have a greater bandwidth and are more dependable than standard radio frequency
signals, are less attenuated in water than traditional RF signals. Implementing and managing
the Li-Fi communication system is done mostly by the ATMega328 microcontroller, which is
renowned for its adaptability and low power consumption. Photodiodes serve as the receivers
and light-emitting diodes (LEDs) as the transmitters in the proposed Li-Fi-based deepwater
communication system. The modulation/demodulation unit, error correction techniques, and a
connection-establishing and connection-maintenance protocol are essential parts of the Li-Fi
deepwater communication system. The system is made to handle the particular difficulties
that come with deepwater communication, like energy efficiency, environmental changes, and
signal distortion. Li-Fi technology offers greater data speeds, less latency, and less
vulnerability to electromagnetic interference for deepwater communication. Furthermore, the
ATMega328 microcontroller guarantees an economical and power-efficient solution
appropriate for implementation in underwater conditions with limited resources.
Field of invention:
Li-Fi stands for Light-Fidelity. Li-Fi is transmission of data using visible light by sending
data through an LED light bulb that varies in intensity faster than the human eye can
follow. If the LED is on, the photo detector registers a binary one; otherwise it‟s a
binary zero. The idea of Li-Fi was introduced by a German physicist, Harald Hass,
which he also referred to as “Data through Illumination”. The term Li-Fi was first used
by Haas in his TED Global talk on Visible Light Communication. According to Hass, the
light, which he referred to as „DLight‟, can be used to produce data rates higher than
1 Giga bits per second which is much faster than our average broadband connection.
Background of innovation:
The existing Li-fi system can range up to 10 cm only. In this project , we tried to increase the length
from 10 cm to few more centimeters by using lens. So we are using a convex lens(converging lens) in
between led and photovoltaic cell that is our receiver in such a maneer that refracted lights from lens
can increase the range . Also we are trying to increase the insentity of light for that we are increasing
the current given to the leds. For more effective performance of our lifi system we are trying to
increase the speed of light in water. We know that the speed of light in water in less as than in vaccun
because water is more dense. Because of density of water also the range of lifi gets affected . So, we
are planning to use a concave lens to heat the water before lifi transmission to increase the speed of
light in water. This concave lens can use solar energy to heat up the water. This is our innovative idea
that can increase the range and effectiveness of data transmission through lifi under the water.
Summary of invention
The existing lifi based data transmission system has less range used under the water or above the
water. Our project is based on lifi based deepwater communication system . So, we tried to increase
the range upto few more centimeters to increase the effectiveness of our system . If we succeed our
project can bring a big change in underwater communication system . Many Submarines can use this
idea for better communication that can help to avoid any mishappening. Also the data transmission
rates in lifi can increase and noise can be reduced .
In the illustrated circuit configuration, diverse components collaborate to facilitate an advanced voice
transmission system. The input section functions as a discerning observer, capturing audio data
through a strategically positioned microphone. This voice data is channelled into an encoder,
undergoing a transformative process to generate a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) signal. The
encoded signal is then directed toward the ATmega328, a pivotal component equipped with its
dedicated power supply.
Within the ATmega328, the PWM signal undergoes a significant transformation, being adeptly
converted into luminous impulses. These impulses travel through an amplifier, where their strength is
fortified. Subsequently, the signal ventures toward the LED propagator, responsible for transmitting
the encoded voice data.
On the receiving end, a parallel set of components awaits the encoded voice data. The solar
component detects Infrared (IR) signals, capturing the luminous impulses and forwarding them to the
demodulator. The demodulator meticulously decodes the signal, revealing its original audio essence.
Following decryption, the signal is propelled into an amplifier, where it undergoes rejuvenation of
strength and clarity. Finally, the revitalized signal finds its voice through the speaker, culminating in
the faithful reproduction of the originally captured audio data. This intricate interplay of components
at both the transmission and reception ends underscores the complexity and ingenuity embedded in
this voice transmission system.
