    Area of Study:

    Municipality of
    Bayambang, Pangasinan
    Bayambang is a municipality in Southern
    Pangasinan along the banks of Agno river with 77
    Barangays and current population of 123,091. The
    town's land area is 16,800 hectares most of which
    is agricultural land.
    Location
    The central urban district of the municipality of
    Bayambang. with an area of 1.00 sq. km.

    Rapid Urbanization

    The lack of interventions to mitigate climate


    change is evident in this urban area.
    Overcrowding due to rapid urbanization,
    unsafe or lack of sidewalks and bike paths,
    cutting of trees, and several unsustainable
    practices are some of the problems being

    This also raises health concerns due to the


    increasing temperatures which could lead to
    higher cases of heat strokes and the people
    of the community is suffering from the lack
    of way to cope with it.

    As the municipality rapidly urbanize, the


    environment is slowly depleted thus
    affecting the natural habitats of animals and
    indirectly affects people too.

    TRAFFIC CONGESTION
    The increasing number of vehicles on the
    road along with growing population and
    economy consequently results to traffic
    congestions in the urban areas.

    FIRE SAFETY
    One of the common causes of fires is due
    to faulty electrical wires. Paired with

    overcrowded urban areas could lead to


    major fire incidents.

    LAND-USE AND HOUSING STANDARDS


    Improper use of land and shortcomings in
    the implementation of housing standards
    lead to unsafe living environments for many
    residents which are mostly under the
    poverty line.
