1. GENERAL INFORMATION CV-86
1-1 GENERAL
Model CV-86 Sereis Piezoelectric Velocity Transducer is piezoelectric accelerometer with internal integration
to velocity. The case configuration of the CV-86 is of the permanent mount type making it an ideal choice for
permanent machine monitoring. The CV-86 offers a frequency response and phase stability that is superior to
conventional velocity transducer.

3. RECEIVING INSPECTION AND STORING CV-86
Visually inspect the transducer for obvious shipping damage. If shippng damage is apparent, file a claim with
the carrier and submit a copy to SHINKAWA Sensor Technology, LTD.

4. INSTALLATION CV-86
4-1 GENERAL
Model CV-86 can be mounted to the measured point by using attached mounting stud.
! CAUTION
The mounting surface must be clean, smooth, flat, and large enough to accommodate the
entire base of the transducer.
(1) Drill and tap the mounting hole (M6, 7mm deep min.) perpendicular (90°±1°) to the mounting surface.
(3) Install the mounting stud into the transducer base and finger tighten until snug.
(5) Install the transducer into tapped mounting hole and tighten the transducer with a torque wrench until snug.
The transducer is torqued to about 320N•cm(33kg•cm REF.).
! CAUTION
Do not over-torque. Excessive torque can result in degraded performance, internal damage
and inaccurate readings.

4. INSTALLATION CV-86
(1) Securely connect the connector of the cable to the connector receptacle of the transducer.
(2) To prevent loosening of the connector due to vibration, secure the connector with stainless wire as shown
below.
Stainless wire
! CAUTION
1. If used in the place with much moisture, encapsulate the connector with silicon compound
that does not have an acetic base.
2. If used in outdoor environment, drip-proof type connector cable should be used.
3. Be ware not to apply the excessive force to the connector, which may cause the damage.
-6-
4. INSTALLATION CV-86
4-4 CABLE
Observe the following notes for cabling.
(1) Use the CW-050 standard cable for connection with the CV-861 connector type version.
Use the twisted pair, shielded cable AWG No.16 to 20 (0.5mm2 to 1.25mm2) for connection between the
junction terminal and monitoring device. Select suitable cable for operating environments.
(2) The cable should not exceed 300 meters. Excessive length may limit the systems frequency response.
(3) Keep cabling away from power and control lines, to prevent noise interference.
(4) Cable should be securely fixed. Prevent the cable from bending sharply, twisting, kinking,
knotting, and straining. The recommended minimum bend radius is 80mm. Refer to below drawing.
SHINKAWA recommends that the cable should be routed, through conduit to prevent physical damage
and noise interference.
! CAUTION
Beware not to apply the excessive force to the connector cable, which may cause the
damage.

5. WIRING DIAGRAM CV-86
! CAUTION
1. Never omit the current regulating diode.
2. Do not reverse polarity.
3. If the transducer is connected to the monitoring device (e.g. vibration monitor) that can
supply DC power output to the transducer, refer to the instruction of the monitoring device.

! WARNING
Beware of electric shock from high-voltage parts.
! CAUTION
1. A blocking capacitor (≈10µF) is required in series with the output signal if the readout
instrument is DC coupled.
2. When the CW shielded cables connected to the shell, do not connect the shield cable to
common terminal. (Refer to Fig.2)

6. MAINTENANCE CV-86
6-1 MAINTENANCE
The following items should be periodically checked to operate the system satisfactory.
1) Check the transducer body is properly mounted and secured.
2) Check there is no contact fault and water entered at connector.
3) Check the cable is connected securely to monitoring device.
4) Check the cable is in good condition.
