The New Curiosity Shop: terrible TV

It’s hard to describe just how bad this TV show is. Although it’s supposed
to be a comedy, there are no actual jokes in it. Yet somehow it is popular
with viewers.

The show is set in the borough of Hexford. It is about three brothers,

Larry, Bill and Stan, who work in a shop. Larry is the oldest brother. He
is the manager of the shop. He doesn’t get on with Stan. Their failure to
communicate is meant to be funny. It isn’t.

In the first scene of the show, a man steals from the shop. Stan chases

him, but falls over and then breaks his glasses. This ought to be funny,
but gave me no pleasure to watch. I just groaned. The acting is average.
The script is terrible. It’s a thumbs down from me.

Watching the show

If you’re determined to watch the show, it is on TV between 11 February

and 10 May. It is available to stream until 9 December. The DVD comes
out on 12 June.

Making the most of your time at college

Starting college is an exciting experience. I remember when I first
started. I really enjoyed it. I loved my studies, I had fun meeting new
friends and it felt good to get some qualifications.

Here’s my advice for making the most of your time at college.

I suggest you:
• join lots of clubs
• work hard
• listen carefully in lessons
• co-operate with your teachers.
