SECTION B
Questions 51 to 55 carry ten marks each.
51. Read the passage below and then answer the questions that follow
in full sentences.
“Hully up, the invigilators are already checking the candidates!” one
of my classmates exclaimed. I saw other candidates rushing to the
examination room to have their bodies checked.
Reaching the examination room, my fellow classmates were the
ones acting as invigilators to check the candidates. I was surprised.
I had to ask Zena, my friend, what was going on. He told me that
they had started with a briefing by the “headteacher” who was also
one of the candidates.
So , I displayed myself for check-up amidst confusion. As soon as
we settled in the properly arranged classroom, the “invigilators”
distributed examination papers. I said to myself, “This should be
serious!”
Reading the examination paper, it was just a revision paper. They
ordered us to begin answering the questions and we had to. When
the ending time clocked, the bell was rung and we all stood up. The
“invigilators” collected the scripts and sealed them properly in an
envelope. Hardly had the exercise ended when all candidates burst
into laughter. I asked Philip, my classmate, what was going on. He
told me that the class had been role playing what exactly takes
place before and during the PLE exercise. I also smiled in disbelief
having realised that the whole exercise was just practice.
