SECTION B
Read the passage below and answer the questions in full sentences.
Rehema’s elder sister, Faridah, sat PLE last year. She didn’t get good results
and this was attributed to her inappropriate preparations. She didn’t manage
her time well. She would spend most of her time partying, watching TV and
visiting friends instead of revising. So she had to repeat P7 this year and to
her dismay, she is in the same class with her sister, Rehema!

This was an eye opener to Rehema. She didn’t wait to fail the exams to

6
repeat the class. So she decided to start her preparations early. She spent
her first term holiday with her cousin revising lower class work and writing
summaries. Then when the second term began, she drew herself a timetable.
This included house chores and her revision time.

At school, she completes all her exercises in time and does all her
corrections. When she goes back home in the evening, she does the house
chores quickly and then goes to her bedroom to revise. Her parents and
siblings are supportive. They don’t disturb her as she revises but they
sometimes take her a cup of tea, juice or supper.

Since she is left with very little time, she has already bought all the things
she will use during PLE. These include a geometry set, a ruler, a pen, a
packet of cartridges and two handkerchiefs. Unfortunately, Faridah is not
bothered at all. What about you?

From the second week of November to October 1 .

I feel a lot of trouble as the dream goes on,

I don’t see any time for enough revision,
That will make me remain at the top of the class,
Which is the only thing my parents have known.

Can I do what I’ve never tried?

To pass examinations in a bad way,
My friend tells me to try cheating in examination
But, who will accept my results?

I say quietly to myself.
