COURSE DESCRIPTION This course introduces the concepts of new literacies in the 21 st century as an evolving social phenomena and shared cultural practices across learning areas.
The 21st century literacies shall include (a) globalization and multi – cultural literacy, (b) social literacy, (c) media literacy, (d) financial literacy, € cyber
literacy/ digital literacy, (f) eco – literacy and (g) arts and creativity literacy. Field based – interdisciplinary explorations and other teaching strategies shall be
used in this course. (CMO 74/ 75 s. 2017)

Program Intended Learning By the time of graduation, the students of BEED and BSED shall have the ability to:
Outcomes (PILO) a. Articulate the rootedness of education in philosophical, socio – cultural, historical, psychological, and political contexts;
b. Demonstrate mastery of subject matter/ discipline;
c. Facilitate learning using a wide range of teaching methodologies and delivery modes appropriate to specific learners and their environments;
d. Develop innovative curricula, instructional plans, teaching approaches, and resources for diverse learners;
e. Demonstrate a variety of thinking skills in planning, monitoring, assessing, and reporting learning processes and outcomes;
f. Practice professional and ethical teaching standards sensitive to the local, national, and global realities;
g. Pursue lifelong learning for personal and professional growth through varied experiential and field – based opportunities.

Course Intended Learning At the end of this course, the students should be able to:

7. Characterized artistic literacy and approaches to develop/ design curriculum that cultivates the arts and creativity among learners; and
8. Applied principles of critical literacy in designing lessons and classroom activities.
