Samson, the Researcher and the Presenter of this study


titled Purchasing Habits of SHS Students of St. Mary’s College Quezon City using Online
Shopping Voucher on Shopee and Lazada.
Introduction
Over the course of time, vouchers have undergone significant transformations, particularly with
the emergence of the internet in 1990, leading to the evolution of what we know today as online
shopping vouchers.
Relevant data indicates a growing number of users utilizing online shopping apps and vouchers.
Moreover, the adoption was accelerated by the COVID-19 pandemic, as lockdowns and safety
concerns led to a surge in consumer activity.
Demographics show that younger generations make up a large percentage of the users.
Specifically, the age group of 18 – 34 makes up about 80% of shoppers.
This study will:
conduct a comprehensive analysis of Senior High School (SHS) students' purchasing habits
focusing on their use of Online Shopping Vouchers.
Provide valuable information for educators to understand the interaction between Online
Shopping Vouchers and the purchasing habits of SHS students.
Offer insights for businesses to refine or adjust their approach, catering more effectively to the
preferences of SHS students.

Moving onto the research questions for this study:


Main question: How do online shopping vouchers contribute SHS Students to purchase
products?

Sub questions:
1.What online shopping apps are SHS Students using?
a. Shopee
b. Lazada
2.What are the types of online shopping vouchers used in Shopee & Lazada by SHS students?
3. What products do SHS students purchase with online shopping vouchers on Shopee &
Lazada?
4.What are the reasons for why SHS Students purchase using an Online Shopping Vouchers on
Shopee & Lazada?
5.How often do SHS students use Online Shopping Vouchers on Shopee & Lazada?
6.What is the perceived influence of vouchers when purchasing certain products on Shoppe &
Lazada?
a. How many SHS students will purchase a product without an online shopping voucher
on Shopee & Lazada?
b. How many SHS students will purchase a product with a limited-time online shopping
voucher on Shopee & Lazada?

For the methods:


The study conducted a quantitative research approach. The aim is to comprehensively understand
the online shopping voucher utilization among SHS students, focusing on online shopping apps.
Within the quantitative research design, this study predominantly falls under the category of
being descriptive in nature. Descriptive research focuses on collecting data and information to
convey a detailed representation of how the chosen variable exists or behaves in its current
context.
Stratified random sampling was the chosen sampling method used in this study. This type of
sampling allowed the researcher to divide the target population into groups base on their year
level as we can see in the table. Random sampling was then done to get the final sampling list.
For the instruments, an online survey questionaire was made utilizing MS Forms.

Data collection commenced on October 12, 2023, upon obtaining approval for the survey
questionnaire. It concluded on October 19, 2023, upon reaching the predetermined number of
target participants.
The researcher employed nominal and ordinal scales and conducted statistical analysis involving
frequency counts and rankings.
Moving on to the results of this study.
Respondents were asked what online shopping apps they use? The results are shown in the table
presented.
Respondents were then asked What online shopping vouchers do they use on shopee & lazada.
The results are shown in the table presented.
Respondents were questioned What products do they buy on Shopee & Lazada using Online
Shopping Vouchers according to given categories. The results are shown in the table presented
Respondents were then questioned What are their reasons for purchasing products on Shopee &

SHS Students were then asked How often do they use these Online Shopping Vouchers when
purchasing in Shopee and Lazada. The results are shown in the table presented.
SHS Students were then asked Will they buy a product even without an Online Shopping
Voucher. The results are shown in the table presented.
SHS Students were then questioned Will an Online Shopping Voucher close to expiration be a
reason to purchase an item on Shopee & Lazada. The results are shown in the table presented.

Moving on to the discussion.


Shopee was the most frequently used online shopping app among SHS students (45.5%). Lazada
was used by 7.6% of respondents, while 34.8% reported using both Shopee and Lazada.
The majority of respondents (91.7%) on Shopee and Lazada use Free Shipping Vouchers. 80.0%
of respondents utilize Discount Vouchers, while 36.7% opt for Cashback Vouchers.
Accessories (73%) and Clothes (70%) were the top product categories being bought using Online
Shopping Vouchers on Shopee and Lazada. Electronics and Health & Beauty got equal
percentage (43%).

The top reasons for the purchase of products on Shopee and Lazada using Online Shopping
Vouchers were Free Shipping (80%), Lower Expense (70%), Convenience (61.7%) and Seasonal
Sales (53.3%).
Free Shipping and Discount Vouchers are frequently used, with the majority of respondents
selecting "always.“ While, the Cashback Voucher had a lower frequency, primarily marked by
respondents choosing "sometimes.“
SHS Students will purchase a product even without an online shopping vouchers on shopping
apps.
SHS Students will purchase a product that has a limited time online shopping voucher.

Moving on to the conclusions.


Shopee and Lazada are the online shopping applications SHS Students are using with more users
of Shopee.
Nearly all participants employ Free Shipping vouchers, with the majority making substantial use
of discounts. Cashback, however, is utilized by a smaller proportion of respondents.
Among SHS students utilizing Online Shopping Vouchers, Accessories emerge as the most
favored product category, followed by notable interest in Clothes, Electronics, and Health &
Beauty.
Free Shipping was the main factor for SHS Students purchase using Online Shopping Vouchers,
while lower expense also being a significant factor. Convenience and Seasonal Sales are
additional influencing reasons.
Majority will buy a product even without an Online Shopping Voucher, indicating SHS Students
are not determinant. Purchasing only comes with necessity.
The majority will buy a product with an Online Shopping Voucher nearing to the end of its
expiration.

On to the Recommendations:
Businesses:
Consider extending their services online.
Broaden their market reach to accommodate a wide range of age demographics.
Utilize Online Shopping Vouchers
Business, Marketing and Finance Educators:
Provide comprehensive education as a means to foster the growth and extended outreach of
businesses.
Incorporate Online Shopping Apps and Online Shopping Vouchers into the lesson.
Provide the necessary teachings on spending habits and usage of Online Shopping Apps and
Online Shopping Vouchers.
Future Researchers:
Create more questions on defining why people use Online Shopping Apps and Vouchers.
Sample population should focus on the other age groups.
Gather a sample population that uses online shopping on a regular basis.
Include other Online Apps that are more focused on individual product categories.
