1. Write the corresponding correct answer on the answer sheet provided. Write only the letter corresponding
to your answer.

2. A specific amount of time will be given for you to answer each subject. DO NOT PROCEED to the next
subject unless the time for the first subject has pass up. Remember that in the actual UPCAT, the proctors
are very strict about the time. You can’t move on or go back between the subjects. For example, you’re
currently on the Science part. You finished early and you still have 15 minutes during the Science part.
You can’t go back on your Language Proficiency or start early for the Reading Comprehension. The time
allotment for each subject must be followed strictly or the proctor will capture your test paper and answer
sheet.

3. Strictly No Cheating! This mock examination may be conducted online, and you may think to search for
the answers on the internet. But keep in mind that this examination is done to test your aptitude regarding
the test and it helps you prepare what to expect for the actual UPCAT. It also helps you figure out how
time runs by during an examination and helps you do your own time management. So answer as honest as
possible. Remember that if you cheat on this test, you are only cheating yourself.

of the most famous events in history. Darius, king of the Persian empire, was furious because Athens had

empire. Persia was ruled by one man.

In Athens, however, all citizens helped to rule. Ennobled by this participation, Athenians were prepared

them from Persian rule. On their way to Marathon, the Persians tried to fool some Greek city-states by

The poetic expressiveness and creativity of Japanese women poets of the Manyoshu era is generally
regarded as a manifestation of the freedom and relatively high political and economic status women of

Before the Civil War, and in particular before February 1936, the Falange had few members and could

(1) Bilang estudyante, nakatatakot isiping kasabay ng Oplan Kapayapaan at Oplan Kapanatagan,
inilalagay ng EO 70 ang bansa sa ilalim ng de facto martial law o ang hindi tuwirang deklarasyon ng
batas militar sapagkat ang mga manipestasyon nito ay unti-unting nararanasan ng mga mamamayan.
Kabilang dito ang paggamit sa mga armadong sibilyan at LGUs katuwang ng gobyerno upang
puwersahang pasukuin at puksain ang mga pinaghihinalaang rebelde kasabay ng implementasyon ng iba’t
ibang anti-mamamayang polisiya. Isa ring manipestasyon nito ay ang patuloy na pananakot at pagbabanta
para sa kaligtasan ng mga progresibong indibidwal at grupo mula sa iba’t ibang pamantasan na patuloy na
nire-redtag bilang miyembro ng NPA.

(2) Ang implementasyon ng ganitong polisiya ay hindi tumutungo sa layunin nitong wakasan ang
rebolusyunaryong pakikibaka sa kanayunan bagkus ay mas nagpapaigting pa sa pagnanais ng sambayanan
na tumaliwas at patuloy na lumaban sa mga polisiyang mas nagdudulot ng pangamba sa kanila at
nagpapalaganap ng kultura ng karahasan.

(3) Ipinakikita lamang ng kautusang ito na dahas ang sagot ng gobyerno sa kaginhawaang nais ng
sambayanang Pilipino at dugo ang ibinibigay nito sa batayang serbisyong ipinagkakait sa publiko. Hindi
tumutugon ang polisiyang ito sa pinakaugat na suliranin ng bansa kundi mas nagpapatunay sa pagiging
pabaya ng pamahalaan sa pagtugon sa mga panawagan ng mga mamamayang lumalaban. Hangga’t
patuloy na lumalaban ang sambayanan, hinding-hindi magtatagumpay ang estado sa anti-mamamayang
polisiyang ito.

COVID-19 cases sa bansa umabot sa 67,456

Umabot na sa 67,456 ang bilang ng mga nagkasakit ng COVID-19 sa Pilipinas. Ito ay matapos
makapagtala ngayong Linggo ang Department of Health ng 2,241 bagong kaso. Sa higit 67,000 kaso,
43,160 ang active cases.
Karamihan sa mga bagong kaso ay galing sa Metro Manila, na may 1,625 bagong kaso. Sunod ay galing
sa Laguna na may 115 bagong kaso, Cavite na may 76, Rizal na may 75, at Cebu na may 55. May 398 na
naitalang gumaling sa sakit kaya umakyat sa 22,465 ang total recoveries. Nasa 1,831 naman ang
kabuuang bilang ng mga namatay matapos madagdagan ng 58.
Ayon naman sa Department of Foreign Affairs, sumampa na sa 9,000 ang bilang ng mga Pinoy sa abroad
na tinamaan ng COVID-19. Dalawampu't isa ang naiulat na bagong pasyente. Nasa 634 naman ang
kabuuang bilang ng mga namatay habang 5,321 naman ang gumaling sa sakit.

Iminungkahi ni Isabel na sa San Diego na gagawin ang bakasyon sapagkat bukod sa malaki ang bahay
doon ay malapit na ring ganapin ang pista. Tinagubilin ni Kapitan Tiyago si Maria na sa pagkukuha ng
kanyang mga damit ay magpaalam na siya sa mga kaibigan sapagkat hindi na siya babalik sa beateryo.

Nanlamig at biglang nabitawan ni Maria ang tinatahi ng may biglang tumigil na sasakyan sa kanilang
tapat. Nang maulinigan niya ang boses ni Ibarra, karakang pumasok sa silid si Maria. Tinulungan siya ni
tiya Isabel na mag-ayos ng sarili bago harapin si Ibarra. Pumasok na sa bulwagan ang dalawa. Nagtama
ang kanilang paningin. Ang pagkakatama ng kanilang paningin ay nagdulot ng kaligayahan sa kanilang
puso.

Pamaya-maya, lumapit sila sa asotea upang iwasan ang alikabok na nililikha ni Isabel. Tinanong ni Maria
si Ibarra, kung hindi siya nalimutan nito sa pangingibang bansa dahil sa maraming magagandang dalaga
roon. Sinabi ni Ibarra na siya ay hindi nakakalimot. Katunayan anya, si Maria ay laging nasa kanyang
alaala.

Binigyan diin pa ni Ibarra ang isinumpa niya sa harap ng bangkay ng ina na wala siyang iibigin at
paliligayahin kundi si Maria lamang. Si Maria man, anya, ay hindi nakakalimot kahit na pinayuhan siya
ng kanyang padre kompesor na limutin na niya si Ibarra.

Binikas pa ni Maria ang kanilang kamusmusan, ang kanilang paglalaro, pagtatampuhan at muling
pagbabati, at pagkapatawa ni Maria ng tawaging mangmang ng kanyang ina si Ibarra. Dahil dito si Ibarra
ay nagtampo kay Maria. Nawala lamang ang kanyang tampo nang lagyan ni Maria ng sambong sa loob na
kanyang sumbrero upang hindi maitiman.

Ang bagay na iyon ay ikinagalak ni Ibarra, kinuha niya sa kanyang kalupi ang isang papel at ipinakita ang
ilang tuyong dahon ng sambong na nangingitim na pero mabango pa rin. Inilabas naman ni Maria ang
isang liham na ibinigay naman sa kanya ni Ibarra bago tumulak ito patungo sa ibang bansa. Binasa ito ni
Maria ng pantay mata upang di makita ang kanyang mukha.

Nakasaad sa sulat kung bakit nais ni Don Rafael na papag-aralin si Ibarra sa ibang bansa. Siya anya ay
isang lalaki at kailangan niyang matutuhan ang tungkol sa mga buhay-buhay upang mapaglingkuran niya
ang kanyang sinilangan. Na bagamat, matanda na si Don Rafael at kailangan ni Ibarra, siya ay handang
magtiis na ipaubaya ang pansariling interes alang-alang sa kapakanang pambayan.

Sa bahaging iyon ng sulat ay napatayo si Ibarra. Namutla siya. Napatigil sa pagbabasa si Maria. Tinanong
ni Maria ang binata. Sumagot siya "Dahil sayo ay nalimutan ko ang aking tungkulin. Kailangan na pala
akong umuwi dahil bukas ay undas na."

Kumuha ng ilang bulaklak si Maria at iniabot iyon kay Ibarra. Pinagbilinan ni Kapitan Tiyago si Ibarra na
pakisabi kay Anding na ayusin nito ang bahay nila sa San Diego sapagkat magbabakasyon doon ang mag-
ale. Tumango si Ibarra at umalis na ito. Pumasok sa silid si Maria at umiyak. Sinundan siya ni Kapitan
Tiyago at inutusan na magtulos ng dalawang kandila sa mga manlalakbay na sina San Roque at San
Rafael.
