INT. DORM ROOM- MORNING KATE is pacing around the room. She picks things up and puts them back in the same spot. She cleans a desk that has obviously already been scrubbed before. She notices a picture on her desk and squeals in panic. She grabs it and stuffs it in the bottom of her clothes drawer. She looks at the time and audibly sighs. She sits on her bed and opens a laptop looking at the email. EMAIL My plane touches down at 7. Thanks for letting me stay with you during this interview. See you later. She closes the laptop. She looks at the clock again and sees its 11:00. She sighs and lays down to take a nap. INT. DORM ROOM- NIGHT KATE wakes up seeing its 7:30. She runs to the mirror to fix her appearance changing her shirt. She opens her laptop and exits out of the email. She puts on a movie and skips it ahead to the middle. Suddenly there is a knock at the door. She takes a deep breath and opens the door. LUKE is standing there with a big grin on his face, one arm behind his back pulling along his rolling suitcase. LUKE Hey. He reaches for a one armed hug. She steps back out of it and grabs his hand for a handshake instead. KATE Hey. Taken aback Luke, stands in the doorway awkwardly. KATE O... come in. She moves back to let him pass. quarter setting his bag down. KATE How was your flight? LUKE It was ok. Uneventful. reminds me. O that He comes into the cramped
He starts fumbling through his bag looking for something. (CONTINUED)

LUKE I got you something. He pulls out a vanilla scented candle. LUKE Vanilla is still your favorite right? Kate takes the candle and smells it. KATE Yeah it is. She says and smiles at him. Encouraged he smiles back.
KATE So, what is this interview for? LUKE Well. Theres this company that has branches not only here, but home in London. I may be transferring within the company. KATE Wait so you could be moving here? Luke nods. KATE What brought this about? I thought youd loved working and living in London. Luke doesnt say anything and she realizes what is has possibly inspired this. To break the tension she asks. KATE So how is Mr. Burtness? Luke, grateful for this shift in conversation. Hes good. LUKE So is everyone else.
KATE Thats great. How are Mary and James? LUKE Going through another break-up.

CONTINUED: KATE Again? LUKE You know those 2. One moment they love each other and next its disaster. I swear they are going to decide the day before their wedding to call it off and then run off and elope two days later. They laugh at the thought of their friends. After the laughter, the room fills with an uncomfortable silence. LUKE Kate... KATE Why dont you sit down. have to stand. We dont

She laughs uncomfortably. He sits on the bed leaving space for her. She instead sits in the chair at her desk. He fills in the space by propping himself up on her bed. LUKE Kate... Listen... Ive missed you. She stays quiet for a moment. KATE Ive missed you too. LUKE Kate... Im sorry. Kate jumps up. KATE You have to be hungry. traveling all day. Luke realizes shes deflecting. LUKE Yeah Im starving. Kate goes to the closet to grab her coat. KATE Lets go get something. I know an excellent little Thai place near here. Youve been

LUKE Lets order in.
KATE Id rather go out. A tense silence fills the room. Fine. KATE Well order in.
She sits at the desk and turns her back to him opening the laptop. KATE what are you in the mood for? LUKE Im not picky, whatever you feel like ordering. KATE As indecisive as always. Luke sits up. LUKE Fine, I want Chinese. KATE Uggh. You would pick the one thing I hate the most. LUKE Thats why I tried to let you make the decision because I knew youd complain about my choice. KATE I want to go out. LUKE Why, so you dont actually have to talk to me. KATE Get your damn Chinese food. dont care! I
She snaps at him and silence fills the room again.

LUKE Kate, I didnt come all this way to argue with you about food. KATE Why did you come then? LUKE I miss you. You being so far away has made me realize... Kate turns and faces him. He stops talking and silence falls in the room again. They start to speak simultaneously. LUKE Katie I love you. KATE I cant do this. Silence falls over the room again as they both realize what the other has said. LUKE Katie... please... She jumps up again. KATE Look. Im hungry. Either you can come with me or you can order in by yourself. She grabs her coat again and walks to the door. and gets up to follow. LUKE Whatever you say Katie. KATE Your interview is when again? LUKE The day after tomorrow. KATE Maybe you should see if they can see you tomorrow. He looks at her. He sighs
