SEMI-DETAILED LESSON PLAN IN SCIENCE 9
Date and Time:
Quarter: FIRST
Week and Day Week 1, Day 2
Content The learners demonstrate understanding of how the different
Standard: structures of the respiratory and circulatory systems work
together to transport oxygen-rich blood and nutrients to the
different parts of the body. Prevention, detection, and
treatment of diseases affecting the respiratory and circulatory
systems
Performance The learners should be able to conduct an information
Standard: dissemination activity on effective ways of taking care of the
respiratory and circulatory systems based on the data
gathered from the school or local health workers
LEARNING explain how the respiratory and circulatory systems work
COMPETENCY together to transport nutrients, gases, and other molecules to
and CODE and from the different parts of the body; S9LT-la-b-26
I. Objectives: At the end of the session, the learners should be able to:
distinguish the functions of respiratory;
describe the function of each part of the breathing system;
and
demonstrate how the movement of diaphragm helps the air
to go in and out of the lungs.
II. LEARNING Lesson: Mechanisms and activities of lungs and
CONTENT Diaphragm
(Respiratory and Circulatory Systems Working with the other
Organ Systems)
Materials: TV

IV. PROCEDURE Preliminary Activity:
Prayer
Greetings
Checking of attendance
Setting Standards: Classroom rules and health protocols
Review: What are the different parts of the breathing system?
Motivation: Show pictures of the main respiratory organ-
Lungs and let students share what they know about the
function of lungs.
A. ACTIVITY Video presentation of the different parts and function of
the breathing system. https://www.youtube.com/watch?
v=Aw9OJLTlClQ
B. ANALYSIS Instructions: The teacher will ask students the following
questions:
1.What are the different parts of breathing system?
2.How does it function?
3. What do you think will happen if it does not function well?
C. ABSTRACTI Key concept: The air we breathe goes through the
ON nose, nasal passages, and then through the trachea or
windpipe, which separates into two branches, called
bronchial tubes or bronchi, one entering each lung.
The bronchi subdivide many times inside the lungs,
analogous to the branching pattern of grapes, finally
becoming hair like tubes called bronchioles. In the last
part of the terminal bronchioles are tiny bubble- like
bunch of structures called alveoli or air sacs.
D. APPLICATIO Differentiated Activity:
N Role Play: Show and describe how the movement of the
diaphragm help the air go in and out of the lungs.
Essay: What will happen if one part of the system fails to
carry out its function properly?
Crossword Puzzle: Answer the Respiratory Crossword

answer.
