HP Professional Learning Program

A new approach to professional development that focuses on transforming

teaching and student learning through technology integration in the classroom

The HP Professional Learning Program is an ongoing, online, collaborative, mentored framework, designed to help
Teachers plan effective, efficient, and engaging learning experiences for their students through technology integration – no
matter what technology is available to them.

The HP Program has pushed me to try new things in my classroom. This is not a traditional PD
program. It is project based learning... It is just what I needed.
T. Cave - Simcoe County District School Board

This program has given me my first taste of online collaboration and has opened my eyes to the
possibilities that exist… (Now) every day I teach, I see the excitement on the faces of my students and
the change in attitude and belief in themselves when I - and they - use technology.
J. Perrault - Simcoe County District School Board

HP believes that technology, when used effectively in teaching, can make a positive difference in student achievement and engagement. HP
also believes that teachers can make this positive difference happen when they receive mentoring and coaching on the integration of technology
in their teaching practice. The HP Professional Learning Program is designed to do that.

Participants in the HP Professional Learning Program work in individual and group activities in an ongoing, online, collaborative, mentored
environment, as they improve their skills and knowledge about effective technology integration in teaching and learning.

The HP Professional Learning Program has evolved from the professional development component of the HP Technology for Teaching Grant
Program that was developed in 2004 with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE).
