A BRIEF ACCOUNT OF EVOLUTION

The geological time scale includes 4 eras: - 200 mya: Some of the land reptiles went
Proterozoic, Paleozoic, Mesozoic and back into water to evolve into fish-like
Cenozoic. reptiles (E.g. Ichthyosaurs).
1. Proterozoic era: 2500 - 541 million - The land reptiles were dinosaurs
yrs ago (mya) (Tyrannosaurus rex,
- First cellular forms of life appeared Triceratops, Pteranodon, Stegosaurus,
(2000 mya). Brachiosaurus etc.)
- Some of the cells had the ability to T. rex was the largest dinosaur (20 feet in

- Single celled organisms became 4. Cenozoic era (66 - 0 mya)
multicellular organisms. - Age of Mammals & Angiosperms.
2. Paleozoic era (540 - 252 mya) - It is divided into 2 periods: Tertiary (66
