SPEAKING PART 3

EDUCATION AND STUDY

What are the potential benefits of extracurricular activities for
students?
From my perspective, engaging in extracurricular activities outside of
regular academic classes brings a range of advantages for students.
Participating in activities such as sports teams, and clubs, or
volunteering allows students to develop essential life skills like
teamwork and time management. As a result, students will learn how
to work together effectively in various missions to achieve a mutual
goal. These tasks will help students prepare properly for their personal
lives and future careers.
PRACTICE

on exams and grades?

knowledge?

4. How can schools better prepare students for future employment?
Do you think that the current education system places too much
emphasis on exams and grades?
Yes, I believe that the current education system often places excessive
emphasis on exams and grades. While assessments are important for
measuring students' understanding and progress, relying too heavily on
them can create a high-pressure environment. Students may focus more
on memorizing information for tests rather than truly engaging with the
material. Moreover, grades can sometimes reflect a student's test-taking
skills rather than their actual knowledge or creativity. This can
discourage students who might excel in practical applications but
struggle with traditional exams. I think education should prioritize
holistic development, encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and
a love for learning, rather than solely focusing on grades.
Would you agree that practical skills are more important than theoretical
knowledge?
I would agree that practical skills are often more important than
theoretical knowledge, especially in today’s job market. While theoretical
knowledge provides a foundation and understanding of concepts, it is
the practical skills that allow individuals to apply that knowledge
effectively in real-world situations. For instance, in fields like medicine or
engineering, practical skills are crucial. A doctor needs to know how to
perform procedures, and an engineer must be able to implement
designs. These skills can only be developed through hands-on
experience, which complements theoretical study. In short, while both
practical skills and theoretical knowledge are important, I would argue
that practical skills play a more significant role in preparing individuals
for the complexities of the workforce.
How can technology enhance the learning experience in classrooms?
In my opinion, technology can greatly boost students’ engagement
and learning outcomes in classrooms. For example, instead of simply
lecturing on historical events, history teachers could use multimedia
presentations, videos, and interactive timelines to bring the past to
life. This not only makes the lessons more engaging but also helps
students visualize and understand complex historical concepts better.
Additionally, many schools nowadays have online platforms where
students can access e-books, educational videos, and interactive
quizzes to supplement their learning. This allows us to gain useful
knowledge beyond what is covered in textbooks.
How can schools better prepare students for future employment?
Schools have a crucial role in equipping students with necessary skills
and knowledge for their future profession. Firstly, schools should
provide a well-rounded education that goes beyond academic
subjects. This includes teaching important life skills, such as time
management, teamwork, and the ability to work to tight deadlines. In
order to help students improve these skills, schools should
incorporate project-based learning, group work, and more
extracurricular activities into academic curriculum. Additionally,
schools can offer career guidance and counseling services to help
students explore their interests and make informed decisions about
their future.
