Dealing With Stress
So I think stress is a problem that everyone has encountered, so if someone confidently says that they
have never been stressed about any problem, congratulations, you are one of the happy people.
Stress is a negative impact so when we are under stress, we will always react to it. And some reactions
about emotion, behaviour or physic show that we are experiencing stress or we can't cope with it.
Firstly, we start with emotional reactions to stress: Depression and anxiety are the most common
emotional reactions to stress. Depression occurs when we undergo some bad events such as the death
of a loved one, the faillure in business or the breakup of a relationship. Studies show that depressed
people tend to lose the interest in life and feel down worthless. Besides depression, anxiety is also a
reaction related to stress. Anxious people tend to be worried, tense and nervous. They are also fearful
and uneasy about the future. Therefore, stress brings negative emotion to people who are easy to be
affected by external factors.
Reactions to stress are not only emotion but also behaviour. These are equally important reactions
because people who are under a great deal of stress will have unusual behaviors such as sleeping too
much, eating too much or even sleepless, loss of appetite. Any excessive or self-destructive behaviour
such as these may be a respone to stress.
Now, let’s move to the last reaction. CAN YOU GUESS THE LAST REACTION IS? Yes, sure. It’s physical
reaction. Stress has been identified as a contrubuting factor in many illnessess, including heart disease,
diabetes and cancer. One of the most recognizable reactions when we are under stress is physical
changes because it is the most noticeable. What we may feel is pain in the neck and lower back or
migraines and tension. Moreover, the symptoms that we can see with the naked eye are allergies, acne
or other skin problems. If you experience these changes, you may be experiencing stress, but it depends
on the level of stress whether the symptoms are noticeable or not.
