Comparison of adjective
Comparison หรือ การเปรียบเทียบ เกิดขึ้นได้กับคำคุณศัพท์
(adjective)และคำกริยาวิเศษณ์ (adverb) การเปรียบเทียบนี้อาจ
เปรียบเทียบกับบุคคลหรือสิ่งของก็ได้ตั้งแต่ 2 สิ่งขึ้นไป
หรืออาจมากกว่า
ในการเปรียบเทียบคำคุณศัพท์และคำกริยาวิเศษณ์
จะมีขั้นของการเปรียบเทียบอยู่ 3 ขั้น ได้แก่
1. ขั้นปกติ (Positive degree) เช่น fast, strong, good, little
2. ขั้นกว่า (Comparative degree) เช่น faster, stronger, better, less
3. ขั้นสูงสุด (Superlative degree) เช่น the fastest, the strongest, the
best, the least

1. ขั้นปกติ (Positive degree) คือ การเปรียบเทียบลักษณะของคน


สัตว์ หรือสิ่งของที่มีคุณสมบัติเหมือนกัน
หรือเท่ากัน

(Formation of comparative adjectives)

1. คำคุณศัพท์ส่วนใหญ่ที่สามารถเติม –er ในขั้นกว่าได้


เลย เช่น
new – newer strong – stronger old – older
fast – faster clean – cleaner long – longer
cold – cold small – smaller nice – nicer

2. คำคุณศัพท์ที่ลงท้ายด้วย y เปลี่ยน y เป็น i แล้วเติม –


er ในขั้นกว่า เช่น
