SUBJECT: INDICATING AND RECORDING SYSTEMS – Switch Unit 20VE

Replacing the Switch Unit 20VE with an improved version

Revision number Issue date

Revision 0 2016-05-17
Revision 1 2016-06-01
Revision 2 2018-06-13

Summary:

By means of this Service Bulletin (SB), Airbus Helicopters Deutschland (AHD) proposes the
replacement of the Switch Unit 20VE with an improved version.

Reason for last Revision:

Revision 2: The switch unit 20VE offered under P/N L311M1075108 in revisions 0 and 1 proved
to be faulty. No switch unit of this version was delivered. With revision 2, AHD now offers a
modified switch unit 20VE under P/N L311M1075109. In addition, the ”Effectivity” paragraph
has been revised accordingly.

Revision 1 draws attention to the fact that helicopters with Turbomeca engines must be
equipped with Digital Engine Control Units (DECU) with modification status TU120 or higher.

Compliance:

Compliance with this Service Bulletin is optional.

The installation of the improved version of the switch unit is essen-

tial for the retrofit of the warning function required for Single En-

1.B ASSOCIATED REQUIREMENTS

1. In order to accomplish this SB, helicopters with Turbomeca engines must be

equipped with Digital Engine Control Units (DECU) with modification status
TU120 or higher. The modification status can be verified using the part number
of the DECU (see example illustrated below and Turbomeca MAINTENANCE
SPARE PARTS CATALOG).
In the event that DECUs with P/N 70EMM01010 or 70EMM01040 are installed,
the Turbomeca SB ARRIUS 2 No. 319 73 2120 must be accomplished before the
replacement of the switch unit 20VE.

replacement of the Switch Unit 20VE with an improved version.
The main improvements consist of the installation of more reliable ENG CONTROL
switches and the introduction of an optimized OEI training concept (One Engine
Inoperative).

1.D DESCRIPTION

Replace the Switch Unit 20VE. Perform functional test.
