equipment, type 8005 from 3M Germany GmbH).
General 0
Only qualified and trained personnel are allowed to perform CT system installation, ser-
vice, maintenance, and quality assurance.
To avoid any risk of injury to persons or damage to the system, the safety instructions
must be read and observed in the:
General Safety Notes (TD00-000.860.01.xx.xx)
and
Product-specific safety notes (CT02-025.860.02.xx.xx) (CT02-025.860.02 / Prod-
uct-specific safety notes)
The product-specific safety notes contain important information about:
• General safety information about the gantry, patient table, and laser products.
• Attachment of screws and nuts, adjustment instructions for torque wrench and use of
Loctite.
• Safety advice (Hazard keys)
Installation personnel have to wear protective clothing (protective shoes, gloves, clothing,
etc.) for personal safety whenever handling heavy equipment.
ESD Protection 0
The components are delivered in a pink plastic cover. In addition to providing dust protec-
tion, the plastic foil also protects ESD components against electrostatic discharge. Sev-
eral system components contain electronic parts sensitive to electrostatic discharge
(ESD).
NOTE To provide ESD protection, the pink plastic cover should remain
on the components until access is required.
Always use ESD protective equipment (e.g. wrist band plus
ground strap) before handling electronic components or devices.
High voltage 0
NOTE Dangerous voltages (up to 560 VDC) are present when the system
is switched on. Dangerous voltages (up to 560 VDC) may be
present even when the system is switched off due to capacity
power.
Risk of electric shock!
Observe power-off instructions and discharge wait times (allow at
least five minutes discharge time after the last scan for all
involved HV and UDC parts).
Secure the system against unintended switch-on (e.g. block
breaker and/or mark breaker against switch on).
Ensure via measurements that all voltages are switched off.
Connect the stationary and rotating parts of the gantry to a pro-
tective conductor prior to working in the gantry.
- Connect the stationary and rotating parts of the gantry via a protective conductor
prior to working in the gantry.
Automatic procedures 0
Radiation protection 0
NOTE Certain tests and procedures use X-rays. Observe radiation pro-
tection regulations (basic CT course).
Risk of exposure to X-rays.
It is prohibited to perform service on the system, if, for any rea-
son, the appropriate training or safety instructions regarding
X-ray protection were not received during the CT training or
through other qualified sources.
• Observe the following protective measures when working on the CT unit with radiation
"ON":
- Use a radiation shield
- Maintain a safe distance from the source, the farther away, the better
- Use the minimum dose and smallest slice-thickness
- Remove the phantom (if possible).
Blood-borne pathogens 0
NOTE Handling parts of the system that may have come into contact
with patients may lead to infection through blood-borne patho-
gens.
Infection caused by blood-borne pathogens!
Take appropriate precautions against exposure to blood-borne
pathogens (e.g. wear gloves).

Quality criteria: Reference image 1 has to appear identical on Monitor Cart/Ceiling Sup-
port, (CARE Vision) ICS and ICS monitors.
A successful setup verifies the correct functionality of the monitor and serves as the
equipment test.
A new ceiling support and new monitor cart are available beginning with Tower 7, soft-
ware version VB38 or higher, and the 19” monitor.
Safety 0
NOTE Read and observe the safety information contained in the "Safety
information" section of this document.(Safety Information / p. 15)
Prerequisites 0
In case an optional ceiling support system is to be used, the ceiling should be prepared for
system installation according to the applicable “Planning Guide” CT02-025.891.01.xx.02.
NOTE Fiber optic cables are very sensitive and can be damaged easily.
They must be handled carefully and routed at the end of the
cabling procedure. Fiber optic cables should not be bundled with
other cables.
The minimum bending radius for a fiber optic cable is 50 mm (
approx. 2 inches ).

Preinstallation 0
A ceiling flange is necessary to connect the ceilling support to the ceilling. This ceilling
flange is part of the preinstallation kit. To install the preinstallation kit, follow the instruc-
tions included in the delivery volume.
• Loosen the transport lock screws at the monitor unit so that the bars can be easily
moved up and down (Fig. 77 / p. 190). Do not remove them completely.
• Slowly loosen the last u-shaped transport lock at the back (Fig. 78 / p. 191)and let the
front slowly slide down on the transport locks(Fig. 77 / p. 190).
Fig. 79: Removing the ceiling support from the transport device
• Take the ceiling support out of the transport device (requires at least two persons) and
place it onto the working platform. A third person would be helpful to carry the cables.
NOTE Ensure that the canopy is attached to the ceilling flange before
routing the cables through the flange.(Fig. 75 / p. 189)
• Unpack the cabling, unroll them (do not twist them), and route them through the pre-
pared ceiling support base columns at the ceiling.
• Use the packing material to protect the top of the gantry against damage.
• Remove the 3 M6x10 mm screws from the ceiling system mounting flange
• Lift the ceiling system using at least two persons; a third person should guide the
cabling through the ceiling flange while the others lift the ceiling system up.
• Insert the ceiling system into the mounting flange and secure it with the 3 M6x10mm
screws(Fig. 78 / p. 191)
Cabling 0
NOTE The Y-cable (part no. 10094653 included in delivery volume of the
DVI splitters) is not necessary for the Emotion/Sensation ceiling
support.
• Install the DVI mounting plate next to the ICS (e.g. left side into the optional office con-
tainer, part no.: 3805442)
• Connect the signal cables to the DVI splitters.(Installing the Option / p. 42)
• Connect the protective ground cable to:
- LCB for Emotion 6/16
• Connect the power cables to the Y-cable (included in delivery volume). The Y-cable is
only available for dual monitor systems
• Connect the Y-cable in accordance with the label on the cable to:
- LCB for Emotion 6/16
NOTE For Emotion systems, the plug has to be cut and spliced.
• Remove the stand for the 19” monitor(s) to connect the cables. Place the monitor on the
the packing box and foam while working (refer to the System Installation document in
the blue binder).
• Attach the monitor(s) to the ceiling support. Use the contact washers and the screws
delivered with the monitor.
• PE Cabling
- Single MCS:
- Dual MCS:
• Connect power cord, signal cable, and protective ground to each monitor.
• Install the cover plate(s).
• Loosen the locking screw of the upper joint.(Fig. 80 / p. 194) The force necessary for
horizontal movement can be adjusted with this screw.
• Turn the ceiling support carefully around its axis. If necessary, adjust the collision limits
at both joints (Fig. 80 / p. 194)(Fig. 81 / p. 194).
• Install the stopper screws at the required positions. They may be installed in 30 degree
increments.
NOTE The maximum radius for each joint should not exceed 330
degrees. Exceeding this value will damage the cables; therefore,
do not remove the stopper screws completely.
• After adjusting the collision limits, turn the ceiling support around its axis once again to
ensure that it will not collide with the walls.
• The support arm must remain in this position over a duration of about 15 minutes.
• To check this, measure the distance between two reference points, e.g. at the monitor
and the tabletop using a tape measure. Note the distance and repeat the measurement
after 15 minutes.
• Repeat this procedure when the support arm is in the center as well as at a lower posi-
tion.
• If the support arm moves, perform the tuning procedure in accordance with "Replace-
ment of Parts", CT00-000.841.02.xx.02.
