b. Differentiate the tools and equipment in baking pastry products.
c. Create different tasks like demo on how to use some tools, jingle, role playing, and song.

Learning within the curriculum:

1) Tools and Equipment for Baking - This topic covers the identification and classification of
various baking tools, such as mixers, measuring cups, and baking trays, and connects directly to
the objective by providing foundational knowledge for students to categorize tools.
2) Pastry Techniques - This lesson focuses on the specific techniques used in pastry making,
such as mixing, folding, and rolling, which helps students differentiate between tools used for
different pastry products, aligning with the objective of understanding equipment purpose.

Learning across the curriculum:

1) Science - The topic of chemical reactions in baking, such as how baking soda and baking
powder work, connects with the objective by illustrating the importance of specific tools in
achieving desired results in pastry making, supporting the understanding of equipment roles.
2) Mathematics - Measurement and conversion in recipes relate to the objective as students
learn to classify and accurately use measuring tools, ensuring they apply mathematical
competencies to real-life baking tasks.

Review Motivation:

[Teaching Strategy:] Interactive Quizzes

[Instructional Materials:] Quiz sheets, markers

Engaging Activity 1 - K-W-L Chart: Students fill in what they Know, Want to know, and Learned
about baking tools.

Engaging Activity 2 - Mystery Box: Place various baking tools in a box; students will guess the
tools by feel.

Engaging Activity 3 - Role-Playing: Students act out scenarios where specific tools are needed
for various baking tasks.

Activity 1: Tool Classification

[Teaching Strategy:] Cooperative Learning

Materials - Chart paper, markers, sample baking tools (real or images)
Significance - Helps students visually categorize tools and encourages collaboration.
Instructions -
1) In groups, categorize the provided tools into their respective groups (e.g., measuring, mixing,
baking).
2) Present your classification to the class.
3) Discuss any tools that were difficult to categorize and why.
Rubric
- Clarity of classification - 5 pts.
- Group collaboration - 5 pts.
- Presentation skills - 5 pts.

Assessment Questions:
1) What are the categories of tools you identified?
2) Which tool was the most challenging to classify? Why?
3) How does understanding the category of a tool help in baking?

Activity 2: Demo on Tool Usage

[Teaching Strategy:] Inquiry-Based Learning

Materials - Selected baking tools, ingredients for a simple pastry
Significance - Demonstrates practical application of tools in real baking scenarios.
Instructions -
1) Choose a baking tool and demonstrate its use in making a simple pastry.
2) Explain the purpose of the tool during the demo.
3) Allow peers to practice using the tool after the demonstration.
Rubric
- Understanding of tool usage - 5 pts.
- Clarity of explanation - 5 pts.
- Engagement with peers - 5 pts.

Assessment Questions:
1) How does the tool contribute to the baking process?
2) Can you think of a different tool that could be used for the same task?
3) What challenges did you face while using the tool?

Inclusive Activity 3: Jingle Creation

[Teaching Strategy:] Interactive/Integrated Learning

Materials - None
Significance - Encourages creativity and collaboration without requiring physical resources.
Instructions -
1) In groups, create a jingle or song that includes the names and functions of at least three
baking tools.
2) Perform the jingle for the class.
3) Discuss how the jingle helps remember the tools.
Rubric
- Creativity of the jingle - 5 pts.
- Inclusion of required tools - 5 pts.
- Group performance - 5 pts.

Assessment Questions:
1) How did your group decide which tools to include in the jingle?
2) What was the most fun part of creating the jingle?
3) How does music help in remembering information?

ANALYSIS:
Activity 1 - Students effectively categorized tools, enhancing their understanding of the
different baking tools and their functions. This activity solidified their ability to recognize and
classify tools, directly supporting the lesson's objectives.
Activity 2 - The demonstration provided practical experience, reinforcing the importance of
each tool’s role in baking. Students actively engaged with the tools, deepening their
comprehension through hands-on practice.
Activity 3 - The creation of a jingle fostered creativity and collaboration, allowing students to
express their understanding of baking tools in an engaging manner. This activity helped
reinforce memory retention through musical learning.

ABSTRACTION:
The lesson focused on classifying and differentiating baking tools, which are essential for
successful pastry making. Understanding the purpose and category of each tool empowers
students to utilize them effectively in practical applications. Additionally, creating tasks such as
jingles and demonstrations enhances their learning experience and solidifies their knowledge.
Supporting Material 1 - "The Complete Baking Book for Young Chefs" - This book provides a
comprehensive overview of baking tools and techniques for young learners, enhancing their
practical skills.
