AGCO CORPORATION - DEKALB OPERATIONS

CORPORATE PROCESS SPECIFICATION

I. SCOPE:
This specification defines the minimum laboratory test requirements used to
evaluate High Performance liquid, powder and Electrocoat primer paints for
metallic substrates. This is a multiple variation specification for various primer
colors. Color requirements are defined in Figure 1 of Article IV.
II. APPLICATION:
A. This material provides long-term corrosion protection and serves as
basecoat for CMS (Corporate Material Specification) 5500 Standard, CMS
5501 High Performance and CMS 5502 Superior Performance topcoat
paints. It is primarily intended for use on products where longer corrosion
protection and more durable (harder) paint than the Standard Primer are
required.
B. Materials approved under this specification do not meet the requirements
of Superior Performance primer paints and must not be used when
Superior Performance primer paints are specified. Materials approved
under this specification meet or exceed the requirements of CPS
(Corporate Process Specification) 5005 Standard Primer paints for metallic
substrates and may be used when Standard Primer paints are specified.
III. APPROVAL:
A. All new paints must be evaluated to meet all the requirements of this
specification. It is the responsibility of the supplier to qualify new paints
according to procedures outlined in CPS 5004 and assure compliance of
approved production products to the requirements of this specification.
B. Supplier’s test data will be accepted for product qualification purposes if
their testing laboratory has ISO 9002 certification.
C. Paints must be formulated to comply with the heavy metal content limits
defined in Article V.A.
D. All paint materials must be approved by the group listed in Article III.H,
prior to any shipment to any plant or component supplier.
E. Evaluation results shall consist of product data with permanent product
code, all necessary material safety data sheets, laboratory test data, test
panels and application and cure requirements.
F. The supplier shall not change the material composition or the
manufacturing process from that which the product was originally

IV. COLOR REQUIREMENTS:

Paint color shall be similar to the corresponding topcoat color when observed
under ordinary daylight illumination. Primer color requirements are listed in
Figure 1.
AGCO Corporation - Dekalb Operations does not provide color reference
standards for primer colors. Topcoat color standards shall be used for
reference and developing of primer color. Topcoat color reference standards
are available from the party listed in Article III.H.
Primer color requirements are as follows:
Specification Color Color similar to:

V. GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
A. Heavy Metals
Paints supplied under this specification must comply with all local health
and environmental regulations at the point of application. Maximum
allowable concentrations of the following "heavy metals" measured by
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Toxicity Characterization
Leaching Procedure CFR 40 Part 261 Appendix 2 Method 1311 (TCLP),
are as follows:
1. Barium 100 PPM
2. Cadmium 1 PPM
