Uhh, who likes Exams? But still, we have to write them as

these exams are an integral part of our lives. There is a term
for Exams conducted in Schools. This term is Standardized
testing. Before we delve into a fruitful Debate on the
advantages and Disadvantages of Standardized Testing.
Hello My name Is Arjun Varier, and I will be talking on the topic
Standardized Testing should be abolished in School.
Before Discussing about Standardized testing, we need to
understand what is standardized testing.
Standardized tests are tests that require each student to
answer the same set of “standard” questions, and are graded
in a uniform and consistent manner

First I will be talking for the topic which is Standardized

Testing in schools should be abolished.

1) Students learn to the test, meaning they will ignore any

information or learning opportunities that are not part of the
upcoming test.
This leads to mugging about the Subject and not learning or gaining
any experiences. This leads to low experience to face the problems
of Life.

2) Many children in a school are suffering from learning

disabilities, thus they are not able to fully understand and learn
the topic. When its Exam time they are not able to perform
well as other students in the class. In this case they should be
provided with a test paper which caters to their abilities. In this
way we would be able to understand the potential of the child.
3) A single test score does not provide a comprehensive
overview of a student’s abilities and value. It may happen that
the student is not able to perform well in a certain subject but
has performed exceptionally well in an another subject. Also
Standardized exams are not able to measure a Students
Emotional Quotient, which is an imperial factor in life.

Now I will be talking about the Disadvantages of Abolishing

Standardized tests in Schools:-

1) Standardized Testing helps in creating a standard to test the

potential and intelligence of Children in a certain class.
Standardized testing makes it easier for Schools to
understand the intelligence and educational levels of a
Student.

2) Standardized testing helps in a fair comparison of Children in

a Class. There is a possibility that giving different tests to
different children could lead to develop a sense of disunity
among the Children. This is very disadvantageous as
developing of Disunity at such a young age results in the child
Developing such feelings for others during his/her adulthood.

3 ) They
Help You Identify Areas For
Improvement
Standardized testing brings light to areas of the curriculum that are
lacking, and can be used to formulate education plans for
improvement in those areas. For example, if standardized tests
within a school showed that the average test results in math were
below grade level, this is helpful for that school to know they need
to improve their math curriculum and teaching.
